Tackling anti-black racism has become an aspiration for many but it's equally important to recognize that it's the outcome of white supremacy, which must not remain invisible. Read "Unlearning Whiteness" from GSAPP's Black Faculty https://t.co/NWp3MjWbT0

Just a quick point about college admissions. Imagine if MIT or Princeton could no longer consider region in their admissions process. What could happen? They could easily end up with a first-year class made up of primarily students from the northeast corridor. Admission officers try to build a class that reflects a kind of diversity that would enrich and deepen the on campus experience as well as the classroom experience. Grades and test scores are NOT the only consideration. 1/
"Even in the midst of crisis, the flowers bloom, especially in moments of crisis, their blooming is a reminder of something that transcends the moment, a reminder of a deep, deep sense of time reaching back and stretching forward." -- Farah Jasmine Griffin

In retrospect maybe it was bad to have nine unelected officials who decide our most important laws behind closed doors with total immunity and a lifetime appointment while gladly and openly taking bribes.

The People’s Graduation is singlehandedly the most beautiful event Ive ever been a part of as faculty at Columbia. I wept for so much of it. All the work is worth it at times like these 💕
Now its an “accident” that NYPD fired a gun when they raided Hamilton with guns drawn??? What exactly was the expectation when entering with guns in your hands and not on your waists??
Why would Columbia and NYPD plan to raid the student sit-in at #ColumbiaUniversity at night, when it is dark and the risk of injury to undergrads and police would seem to be much higher??
"This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” Frederick Douglass ✊🏾@Columbia@IRAASColumbiaU
In my view, @Columbia is a real estate holdings venture that tolerates academic classes as a side hustle. If it actually delivers on the threat to close down the campus & evict students & faculty, then it'll have merely excised the side hustle, revealing its true beating heart.
Cowards at @Columbia would rather shut down the entire university & deprive every student of a meaningful education rather than allow protests against Israeli atrocities to continue. This is how it works: bye bye free speech, bye bye international justice -- all that goes out the window if it means space to criticize Israeli apartheid and genocide.
