@TerriersFan@nobodyknows2322 Which leads to the funniest moment of the Rhine Valley Massacres. A mob burning down a church, against papal orders and as the bishop yells at them to stop, to kill the jews hiding inside. This is of course carried out in the name of the religion run by said pope and bishop.
@AviWoolf Any good recs on the labor movements that arose during this period like the Workies? They seem vaguely proto-communist, but also very american and individualistic in ways commies aren't. @Historycourses@nobodyknows2322
@GrantGHurst Nah. It's more. "I want to go to college." "Well... your grandfather said something mean about the regime, and you're an ethnic minority we distrust. Here's the 'special' exam. Good Luck."
@WASPmexicano Ah. But the Europeans don't consider you as being a nation until you hate the guys next door b/c of an incident in the 13th century that no one cared about until the rise of modern nationalism.
@AviWoolf Steelmanning this argument. Those conservatives eventually led to the complete conservative cultural collapse and only by pivoting away from that worldview with Trump etc is how the right managed to maintain relevance.
@BillTheKid1603 Probably because a lot of that ethnic hatred predates Nazism. (See progroms of the late 19th c. Treatment of ethnic minorities in the interwar.) If it's post-colonial it's post-Czarist/Hapsburg empires.
@ReubenR80027912 A MOAB that doesn't require air superiority... tempting when long term threats involve clashes wuth a NATO air force. But this story is likely untrue.
@Historycourses@arinohem And people say that Israel isn't where the Jewish future is being written. We're larping as failed intellectual movements from 19th C. They're creating breeds of crazy unseen since the 2nd Temple. Not even close.
