Nehru’s education policy was a structural catastrophe that focused on building a penthouse while completely ignoring the foundation.

It is one of the reasons our industrial history is a series of missed opportunities.

To run a massive manufacturing empire, you need a mass-literate workforce at the base - the kind of primary education focus Mao prioritised in China, which eventually allowed Deng to turn it into a global powerhouse.

India did the opposite by totally abandoning primary education and keeping the masses trapped in subsistence farming for generations.

And those elite IIT graduates you’re bragging about?

They had almost zero impact on the Indian economy for decades because our version of Fabian socialism and cronyism ensured there were no domestic industries to actually hire them.

We spent precious taxpayer money to educate them, only for them to take those subsidised degrees and move to the USA to build their infrastructure instead.

The model was a total failure.

It created an uneducated, stagnant labour force at home and turned our best talent into a free gift for the West.

You can't call it a success when the nation pays for the training and the rival gets all the value.
