Lever controller defense is entirely dependent on how you hold the controller. Yes leverlless defense is comparitavely easier in 3D games where you have to block lows by just inputting down but if you have to block cross ups in 2D games, its terrible.

Particularly KOF where there are short hop crossups, and you have to hold db, to block lows instead of just down. If the opponent goes for another quick shirt hop crossup, it's very hard to bring fingers from db to f and then db again in the other direction which then becomes df.

At the end of the day, it's about muscle memory and hours put in the game in order to get accostomed to any situation you're being put in the game.

If Arslan Ash can win Evo Grand Finals with a lever and while rengchu also reaches grand final with leverlless and Arslan wins, then the debate is already over. It comes down to the brain again and muscle memory, not the controller you're using.

He’s entirely correct. In this game sometimes you just do it. Is it ignorant af and would you be blown up in basically any other iteration of Tekken? Absolutely. But that’s how the game works.

This match was amazing but while this "real" Tekken was happening people were dooming on Tekken 7 as well. Tekken 8 just has more eyes on it so we see more of it. Tekken 8 has some classics already and will keep producing more
