Our church voted to leave the UMC today. Last week, a non-affirming member of our leadership council lamented that we were put in this position at all. That we should not have had to vote on whether to leave the UMC.

But I can’t overstate the harm caused by the WCA. There is no plot to to install gay pastors on unwilling churches, but maybe there should be. Jesus flipped tables after all. It is not any church or individual’s right to deny someone’s personhood.
