Irish eyes will be smiling down on Toronto on March 16th! ☘️
When I was young, I watched in awe as my father led the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Montreal as Grand Marshal. In that moment, I realized he wasn’t just my hero — he was a leader in our community.
This year, I’m deeply humbled to follow in his footsteps as the honorary Grand Marshal for the St. Patrick’s Parade in Toronto.
Thank you to the St. Patrick’s Parade Society for this incredible honour!

Following the Prime Minister’s Canada-U.S. Economic Summit, the Hon. @AnitaAnandMP, Minister of Transport and Internal Trade, joined the OCC for an insightful Ontario Business Advisory Council roundtable on interprovincial trade.
The discussion included a focus on the importance of mutual recognition agreements, credential recognition, and regulatory harmonization across industries and professions including energy, insurance, transportation, engineering, accounting and more.
As long-time advocates for the removal of internal trade barriers, the OCC extends its sincere thanks to Minister Anand for her time and leadership on this file.
A special thanks to @agnicoeagle, for hosting this important conversation.
Our President and CEO @NeilPakey, Chief Strategy and Development Officer Jennifer Quinn and Chief Operating Officer Eve Wiggins were delighted to welcome Consul General of Ireland in Toronto Janice McGann and Chairman of the @CanadaIrelandFd Mark Purdy to @bbishopairport today. Together, they unveiled our latest honouree in Nieuport Aviation’s Women in Aviation Wall of Fame: Irish Aviator Lady Heath. The gathering was also an opportunity to celebrate St. Brigid’s Day, which marks the beginning of spring. St. Brigid is the patroness saint of Ireland who founded the important abbey of Kildare and several other convents of nuns.
Lady Heath, born Sophie Pierce-Evans from humble beginnings in Limerick in 1896, achieved fame as the first person—woman or man—to fly solo from South Africa to London, a remarkable journey that she accomplished in an open-air cockpit. The 10,000-mile flight was fraught with challenges, including 100-degree heat that caused heatstroke, an air crash in Zimbabwe, and even false reports of her death.
Toronto has a long history of connection with Ireland. Just outside YTZ’s mainland pavilion, Ireland Park commemorates the Irish Famine migrants who arrived on Toronto’s shores between 1846 and 1849. We include Lady Heath in homage to our Irish neighbours, to the @CanadaIrelandFd and to the Corleck Building near the airport.
To learn more about Lady Heath, you can view a digital profile produced by the @RCAF_Foundation by visiting https://t.co/ARybqqVM6c. And the next time you’re through the airport, don’t forget to visit the wall of fame on the second floor of the passenger terminal!
