A 46-year-old woman presented to her primary care physician with a 3-week history of right forefoot pain. The pain had begun spontaneously, worsened with weight bearing, and was not preceded by trauma. 👉 https://t.co/bUxazlBAY6

She reported no joint pain, fever, or other systemic symptoms. Her medical history included hypertension, which was being treated with losartan, and a cesarean section 25 years earlier. She said that she did not participate in high-impact exercise and that she worked as an office manager.

On physical examination, the foot had no wounds, deformities, swelling, or erythema. Palpation over the fourth metatarsal and axial loading of the fourth toe reproduced the pain; mediolateral metatarsal compression did not. The ankle, foot, and toes had full, painless range of motion. Her gait was normal. Neurologic function, arterial pulses, and capillary refill were intact.
