This Spain–France game makes everyone understand one thing, elite midfield will always beat elite attack.

People are obsessed with front threes, goals and individual brilliance, but football has never stopped being a game controlled from the middle of the pitch. An elite attack can only be as dangerous as the platform behind it. If your midfield cannot progress the ball consistently, escape pressure, control transitions or dictate the tempo, then even the world’s best forwards will spend most of the game isolated, feeding on scraps. That’s exactly what happened today.

This is why history keeps repeating itself. The teams that dominate eras are almost always the teams with the strongest midfield, not necessarily the strongest attack.

Spain had Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets. Real Madrid’s three-peat was built on Kroos, Modric and Casemiro. Manchester City became the best team in Europe because they controlled games through Rodri, De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva. Even Barcelona’s MSN only reached their highest level because Iniesta, Busquets and Rakitic gave them complete control of matches.

People often think football is won in the boxes, but before the ball reaches either box, there’s a battle for territory, possession and control. That battle is fought in midfield.

An elite midfield doesn’t just create chances. It decides the rhythm of the game. It decides whether the game is chaotic or calm. It decides where the ball is played, when attacks begin, how quickly transitions are stopped, and whether the opposition’s stars even get enough touches to influence the match.

That’s why you’ll often see world-class attackers disappear in big games. It isn’t always because they had a poor performance; it’s because the midfield behind them lost control. No striker, winger or No. 10 can consistently dominate when every touch comes under pressure, every pass arrives late, and every attack starts 60 metres from goal.

People say goals win games, but midfields create the conditions for goals to happen.

You can have Mbappe, Haaland, Vinicius, Salah or any elite attacker. If the opposition controls possession, wins second balls, dominates the centre, and dictates the tempo, those attackers become passengers for large parts of the game.

That’s why, if I were building a team from scratch, my biggest investment would always be in midfield first. Elite attacks win moments. Elite midfields win matches. Over the course of a season or an entire tournament the team that consistently controls midfield usually ends up lifting the trophy.

His Excellency had only just travelled from the United States to the United Kingdom, where I met him at the airport. From there, we continued on to Germany yesterday. Despite the demanding transatlantic journey, a packed travel schedule, and a very late night, he was awake before me this morning, committed to his daily routine without excuses.

After completing the walk, he prepared for another full day, including a meeting with the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) on matters of international and foreign policy.

Leadership is often revealed in the quiet habits that people never see: discipline, consistency, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to purpose. These are the qualities I witnessed firsthand today.

For me, this is the work ethic of a man who genuinely believes Nigeria can be transformed and who is prepared to make the personal sacrifices required to achieve that vision. It is this steadfast dedication that continues to inspire hope that a new Nigeria is not merely an aspiration, but a future within our lifetime.

We Lost Him 💔😭

My heart is shattered beyond words

Our little brother, 13-year-old David Raymond, has gone home to be with the Lord after fighting for his life for 18 painful days

David was not a soldier
He was not a criminal
He was only a child whose only "offense" was being born into a Christian family in Plateau State

On that dark night in Kawel village, Bokkos LGA, terrorists stormed his home while the family slept

His father, Raymond Maichibi, stood between death and his son, hoping to save him with his own body, but he was shot and killed

His mother, Nanlop Raymond, hid inside the bedroom, praying for mercy, but the bullets found her too

David tried to escape, but an AK-47 bullet ripped through his back and stomach, leaving his intestines exposed

As doctors struggled day and night to save this innocent child, his parents were already lying in a mass grave alongside 20 other Christians murdered simply because of their faith

The family could not bring themselves to tell David that he was now an orphan

They hoped he would recover first

But today, that painful secret no longer matters

David has gone to join his father and mother in eternity

Before he died, his trembling voice still echoed from his hospital bed

"They came in the night... My father tried to protect me and they shot him... My mother was hiding when they shot her too... I ran and they shot me in the back..."

How many more children must die before the world listens

How many more Christian families must be erased before our tears are seen

Trump is crazy deal maker.

Iran was making a deal.
Trump was buying time.

It was obvious that not even a 5-year kid would accept the crazy conditions outlined in the MOU by Iran. Even Netayanhu didn't buy into it.

Trump allowed it to fly and used to the opportunity to buy enough time to stabilise his economy.

Advance the US position as global supplier of hydrocarbons.

Used the opportunity to free up cargoes from Iran for international trade.

And allowed a good chunk of Iran's oil to pile up in the sea with no buyers.

Used the opportunity to weaken OPEC, UAE pulled out, OPEC+ increased production levels.

And other producing countries explored alternative shipping routes instead of the Strait of Hormuz.

Allowed the Iranian forces to concentrate on the Strait before striking.

Iran was not sincere with the deal. Trump played along, bought enough time, waited for them to escalate first, before punishing them now.

Trump is always in control.

If we're being honest, Alex Onyia has done quite enough for Nigerian kids.

This guy singlehandedly rescued the future of more than 379,000 kids who were victims of JAMB glitches.

These students received outrageously low scores from JAMB and Alex Onyia being an expert in the field, questioned the low scores some of these kids were getting because he knows their capacity.

He called out JAMB, pushed for remarking, presented his evidence.

Eventually, JAMB conceded. The registrar apologised on live tv and blamed the mistake on server updates.

The affected sat the exam again and aced it.

That's real impact there.

Did you know that when Bowen University was founded, a huge number of muslim students were sponsored by one rich Iwo indigene to buy the University's Entrance Forms, and after they secured their admission, they began to agitate for a mosque on campus and hijab for female students, etc
When they were turned down, they began to hold prayers on the school field in defiance
When the school authority protested, they started a riot.
I have never seen Christians going into muslim schools or companies or institutions and demanding that rules must be changed for them
They knew it was a Baptist University, they knew it was a Christian institution, and yet they did all that.
The Inaugural Vice-Chancellor of Bowen University, Professor J. T. Okedara, had to retire early because of the trouble these students gave him
It took the intervention of the Nigeria Baptist Convention and a change of Vice-Chancellor for these students to be rusticated and for peace to be restored.

I was reading the news about International School, Ibadan, and I can see the same spirit of disruption and troublemaking at work.

I have never seen bandits wearing cassocks, carrying Bibles and shouting Hallelujah as they behead people

It is a paradox that people practising a religion can be fomenting trouble without provocation all over the world and still claim that they are a religion of peace.

Indeed, there is a spirit at work in every human being based on the faith they embrace.

Look at China.
