One surprising thing about virtual learning: people in my personal life have a front row seat to what I really do all day. It’s very cool to share that experience with my fiancé, friends, and family.
Things that have continued to happen in even virtually is what is keeping me going! So thankful that the Queen of 10 was able to perform her royal duties despite COVID. @mbdillane you are a gem and your commitment to nurturing kids love of math is amazing. #BESstrong
Friday’s are all about boundaries. Be sure to pick a reasonable time today to log off and to take 👏🏻 care 👏🏻 of 👏🏻 you👏🏻 I’ll be offline at 2:30 today. When does your self care start??
I can’t find the tweet that inspired this so I’m sorry I can’t tag but this idea changed my day today. I needed this space as much of the kids and they loved it! If ya’ll aren’t watching a live stream of animals during the day Do. It. Now.
Today, we listened to a story and practiced stop and jots with google slides and I’m SO GLAD we did. It was great to see their thinking and interact via comments about their jots!
One thing I’ve noticed virtually..I can’t stop talking!!!!! I’m talking way more than I would in the building. I need a visual que for myself to just be quiet and let THEM talk.
Yes! We don’t need the powerpoints and peardecks. Or grammar activities or prompts. Kids need choice & time. Short focus lesson, indep writing time, conferences, chances to talk w/ a partner. It doesn’t need to look different. @FCPSR5@fcpsmsela@FCPSElemLA
My new favorite thing is asking my class to share a boring fact about themselves (way too much pressure to share an interesting fact). Today I shared I don’t like mayo on sandwiches. One student puts both socks on before putting on shoes. Another eats a pound of turkey each day.
It’s too easy to imagine what can go wrong. Why not try imagining what can go right instead? Train your mind to think of the good and not just the bad. #edchat
