@bollobas Thank you for doing these posts. I'm a Hungarian citizen (but don't speak Hungarian) so these posts really help keep tabs of what is going on there. [And yes I know, I agree, it's bad...I am working on the language :) ]
My father escaped Hungary in 1956 to flee communism. He loathed the Soviets but was always fiercely proud of being Hungarian. Think about that...his experience of Hungary was the horrors of communism, yet there was clearly something about the culture, people and history of the country that made him proud. Hungary has an amazing 1,000 year-old culture that is worth saving. And on Sunday, we Hungarians (myself included) will save it. @PM_ViktorOrban@BalazsOrban_HU@FM_Szijjarto
@RubinReport PM is blocked/banned in Hungary. So it isn't Hungarian voters who made the bets that created these odds. As a result, it is irrelevant to the final results of the election.
@RubinReport Polymarket isn't a poll. It's odds based on bets. Hasn't been accurate in a lot of European elections. Just like with the stock market, people with enough money can manipulate it by putting their money behind the outcome they want. But Hungarians don't vote based on PM.
Why do YOU care so much about whether Orbán wins, Anne? You are posting up a storm about him even though you aren’t Hungarian and have no vote in this race. (And by the way, for such an “expert” on Hungary, I would think you’d know his name is spelled Orbán - with an accent mark over the “a”.)
@BrettBurmanPA@johanknorberg He was trailing in the polls 4 years ago, and won. Trump was trailing in the polls, and won decisively. Polls are often wrong. Don't believe everything you read, Brett.
@Scott_Wiener Last I checked, Scott, Hungary has a zero-tolerance policy for antisemitism and also has 24/7 police presence around many major Jewish sites. So.....you just might be wrong about Hungary.
@BalazsOrban_HU Not that this is your job, but I am a Hungarian citizen living in the US who is registered to vote by mail. I have not yet received my ballot. I want to vote but may not be able to if I don't receive the ballot in time. Do you know when we should receive them?
@Billbrowder I love a Brit thinking he knows what is best for Hungary. Allow us Hungarians to handle the future of Hungary thank you very much. If you knew our history, you would know that we don’t particularly care for foreigners trying to control us or deciding what is best for us.
I heard that Hungarians living outside the EU have historically voted overwhelmingly for Fidesz. By a much larger margin that Hungarians living inside Hungary or the EU. If true, I would think that would mean we are an important group from which to drum up support. I've not received any direct campaigning. I'm surprised that we seem to be a lost group of voters. They should reach out to us Hungarians living in the US.
@KoskovicsZ Citizenship through descent. So basically 1/2 way between naturalization and natural-born. So yes, that makes sense. Thanks for the information!
