Some say, especially pertaining to intimate relationships, it's better not to carry out due diligence so as not uncover unpleasant scenarios, but I say: 'the earlier you discover what you are dealing with, the better informed/prepared you'll be!' Better to be safe than sorry!

Know Your Customer (KYC) & Customer Due Diligence (CDD).
In my opinion, CDD involves a more in-depth search on a Subject and I lean more favourably to CDD than KYC.
KYC involves requesting a Subject’s data, while CDD goes further to investigate the data provided by the subject.

There have been situations where addresses provided by Subjects have been non-existent; Signed Reference / Guarantor’s Forms submitted were false (the supposed Referees & Guarantors were unaware); Intended spouses turned out to be not what they portrayed etc.
