Cant even imagine the internal battles these gentleman fought having to judge their comrades in arms & sentence them to death for seeking revenge..while we cant ask foreigners to respect these sacrifices..at the very least we Rwandans should honor them with how we lead our lives
Smallness is in the belief. It is in your actions.
If you believe you are small, you are.
You will act small. You will expect small. You will dream small.
Smallness is merely the imagination of the self.
Spot on, Dear Minister 🎯
« Nations are not only protected by soldiers at the front »
The cost of complacency is far too high for us, as Rwandans, to afford. It should never even be an option worth entertaining. Each one of us must be accountable in our respective line of duty.
Listening to Gen (Rtd) Fred Ibingira recount how, during the insurgency of late 1990’s, commanders were required to sign letters accepting the ultimate consequences should they fail to stop the advance of the abacengezi, was a powerful reminder of what accountability looked like when Rwanda’s very survival was at stake.
The point is not the firing squad itself. It is that the responsibility to protect the nation was made unmistakably real.
This made me reflect on a question for all of us.
What is the equivalent, in our own fields, of that level of accountability? What consequence, standard or commitment is strong enough to keep us focused on the mission of rebuilding Rwanda and ensuring that our country never again falls into the hands of those who sought to destroy it?
Nations are not only protected by soldiers at the front. They are also protected every day by citizens, public servants, teachers, entrepreneurs, artists and leaders who refuse complacency and take their responsibilities seriously.
These were commanders who had already faced death on the battlefield. Yet what shook them was not simply the prospect of dying—it was the prospect of failing in the duty entrusted to them.
That distinction says something profound about Rwanda’s sense of leadership.

“The memorial before us is powerful, because it sets the truth in stone and protects it from the heartlessness of time, by instructing the living. It is not a validation, because none is needed. But it will stand as a mark of respect for the dignity of Rwandans and our history.” President Kagame | Inauguration of Monument in Paris honouring the victims of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi.

En interview à Jeune Afrique, le président du Rwanda Paul Kagame a évoqué l'ancien président congolais Joseph Kabila.
Et notamment sa position dans l'AFC/M23, et dans le dialogue de paix.
It's not that "Rwanda could withdraw", it's that "Rwanda WILL withdraw" its troops from Mozambique, if sustainable funding is not secured for its counter-terrorism operations in Cabo Delgado. We didn't pay hundreds of millions of dollars and our RDF soldiers didn't pay the ultimate sacrifice to stabilize this region, allow IDPs to return home, children to go back to school, businesses to reopen, and mega investments in LNG to resume, just to see our valiant soldiers being constantly questioned, vilified, criticised, blamed or sanctioned by the very countries that greatly benefit from our intervention in Mozambique.
Indeed, we are ready to leave Mozambique, if our work and achievements are not appreciated.
President Paul Kagame attended the AFCON final last night in Morocco but he actually didn't just go to watch the game. Paul Kagame took along with him the 30 y/o minister of sports Hon. Rwego Ngarambe. Kagame kept showing the young minister everything around the stadium.
Unlike Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania that submitted a joint bid for 2027 AFCON, Rwanda has submitted her own bid for 2029 or 2035 AFCON. With 3 international stadia already in place and more underway, Paul Kagame hopes Rwanda beats Ethiopia and Senegal who are in for the race.
Leadership is never hard.
The RUBIO Paradox: The Washington Accords identified the neutralization of #FDLR as top priority for peace implementation in DRC-Rwanda. Yet, when #M23 removes FDLR from #Uvira, which FDLR has occupied since February, it is being presented as “breaking promises”.
@SecRubio Rwanda here, Rwanda there...Don't you guys get tired? We never hear you say anything about DRC, FDLR, Burundi, and so on...why?
If you want to really be helpful, fix the core problem first then come back...until then all u're doing and saying is pure nonsense, rubbish Rubio!
If Rwanda gives M-23 sophisticated weapons, isn’t that proof that those weapons would be used against Rwanda if it attempted to exert undue control over M-23?
Rwanda can only control M-23 to the extend to which the latter has no cause. The cause always attracts weapons, even from the enemy. Liberation history is proof.
The cause the M-23 has (to secure the lives of their people that are threatened by extermination) means that the movement itself is under the control of the cause.
If you want M-23 to collapse, protect their relatives, bring them from refugee camps in neighboring countries, guarantee them citizenship rights enjoyed by other Congolese and lift the threat of genocide that hovers over their lives!
