The whole idea that the rest of the continent is angry because South Africa is fighting illegal immigration is the greatest lie any people can tell themselves. Here in Ghana, like all other countries, we insist on compliance with our immigration laws. Despite that some manage to break the law.
The response has never been private Ghanaian citizens massing up, beating and killing people in disregard for their human dignity. It has always been the state apparatus acting and deporting all who are here illegally.
In South Africa, we see our kinsmen being harassed in front of law enforcement officers without a single act of intervention. In fact there is video evidence of people telling these miscreants that they are fully documented and yet the chorus remains they must shut their businesses and leave because theyβre foreigners. That is what a xenophobic society looks like.
South Africa must take responsibility for the wrongful acts of its people and make amends. You canβt insult and threaten your way to a redeemed reputation.
@sayrion@wakem369 Agreed. The underlying idea is the same though. It's where we get the concept of the scapegoat from. It worked for centuries before Christ was introduced as ultimate replacement for animal sacrifice. Traditions that don't recognise Christ are valid in continuing the practise
