"Sectumsempra — for enemies, and so far the Half-Blood Prince hasn't lied, all his tips work... It's obviously something slowing or binding... maybe it'll throw her up to the ceiling and leave her hanging there? Or turn her into a white ferret, like Moody did once?"
— Sectum...
As another person has said about themselves, I used to be a functional human being before Malfoid...
Couple observations about the state of the event on this Monday morning:
1. I remain of the opinion that Sectumsempra is the best way forward both for the story and for the allegorical themes of the Malfoid concept. I am also still of the opinion that there is plenty of plot staging around this one beat that can be used to create a powerful and beautiful ending for the story without it. It's still not my preference. No, people who want it to stay in do not get our rocks off on seeing a pretty girl slashed to pieces. It's painful to see and that's the point. At the same time, I don't really take a position on any of the lasting injuries from Sectumsempra, whether it's the "barren Malfoid" story tangent or just her having scars all over her body. We're talking about a magical world where you drink a potion and your bones regrow. It's fine either way. The emotional scars are what drive the story forward.
2. Sectumsempra has sucked so much of the air out of the room that there's not much attention for the scene that in a lot of ways started this whole thing: the Yule Ball. For personal reasons that remains my real anchor to the story, but there have been so many takes on it now it's hard to keep them straight. I'm not trying to declare or impose "canon," I wouldn't have watched the retellings if I didn't find them interesting. The two most common versions I have seen go like this:
Version 1, Harry gets bet by the Weasley twins that he won't ask Malfoid to the Ball as a joke. He does so, thinking it's safe, she'll never say yes. Everyone is shocked when she agrees and says it's for an opportunity to torment him. As this story progresses so does their relationship, culminating in a legendary night at the ball and a moment between them afterwards.
Version 2, Harry asks Cho Chang to the Ball, but she's already got a date and turns him down. Malfoid is watching and offers to go with Harry. Harry thinks she's mocking him again and explodes, but it turns out she was 100% serious. Somewhere down the line one or the other apologizes, the invitation is accepted, and the Ball scene plays out.
There are other less duplicated versions. Of these two my preference is version 1, but again, I'm neither trying to dictate canon nor am I in a position to do so.
3. The character development for Hermione in most of these snippets is understated but almost always very well done. In certain versions she's catty and competitive for Harry's attentions, but in the majority I've seen she ends up being a voice of reason among Harry's inner circle as his relationship with Dracaena develops. She rather quickly overcomes her hostility towards Malfoid and it's refreshing to see it.
4. I'm not into any other swaps for the story. If you want female Snape or Ron/Veronica go for it, it's not my thing. Personally, my favorite alternate Ron is Secret Jujutsu Sorceror and Harry's Ultimate Wingman Ron. Let's get some domainus expansionus up in here.
5. I really don't care what you call her. I like Dracaena, hard as it is to tell my fingers to type that. I am more particular about the last name--needs to be Malfoid, not Malfoy.
6. If this did somehow get expanded, my preference would be to see it in anime form.
7. Some of this stuff makes me smile. Most of it makes me cry. Good cry, but cry nonetheless. So for all of it, thank you to all the creators sharing their stuff. @Adayasmr, @Malfoid, @wanruochenhun, @AzratemES, @kasmosd1 in particular, but there are many more.
8. Yes, I am keenly aware that this is a fantasy based off a young adult novel series. Make your funny joke and move on if you're just here to sneer.
9. I'm not trying to be one of those "Malfoid can't show any skin at all" types, but I am going to state that it's very important to the character that she and Harry are virgins when they get married. Obviously any boudoir style images need to be "Married adult Malfoid" and that's fine. You can write up whatever scenes you want, I'm just dismissing anything that has Harry and Dracaena sleeping together before their wedding night the same as I'll dismiss cosplaying whorecruxes. Dracaena NOT being a slut is important to the character.
Saw this and was lost. For me, #Malfoid is the most beautiful thing that's happened online in years. First time in my life I wanted to write something.
English version of my #malfoid fanfic. Original Russian text is in the thread above/below.

Я увидел это и я пропал. #Malfoid для меня - это самое прекрасное, что случилось в интернете за последние годы. Первый раз в жизни я захотел что-то написать.
Это оригинал на русском. Чуть позже выложу перевод на английский.
