As elect leaders and charge them with the responsibility of navigating our "Kenyan Ship" , let's be guided by patriotism.
As some Kenyans are dying of starvation in certain parts of our country, parliamentarians have found it more prudent to spend time/energy on a more important issue of personal security. Why can't we normalize similar urgency and energy when dealing with the lives of the masses.
As a country, we will only be at peace with ourselves and make tangible economic/social progress once we dissociate with the personalities who have always made sure the debates are centred on them. We need to critically re-examine our priorities and chart our destiny as a Nation.
Picture your dream home, just the way you’ve always imagined it. Now picture dealing with the building process; the endless approvals, untrustworthy technical team and just where to start.
In most stable and democratic nations, those aspiring leadership must prove their integrity and patriotism to the voters. In our set up, we the voters are the ones struggling to justify our intended leaders can pass the test. We need to wake up and learn we are their employers.
I was teaching English, Science and Mathematics at Satellite Academy in Busia town ( hapo weigh-bridge ) earning a meager Kshs 3,500 per month. My rent was 500 bob and life wasn’t that bad considering i had other side hustles. Tea and lunch was from school and supper at home.
I managed a C+ in my KCSE (A- Eng, B+ History) and didn’t get the cut-off points to join a public university, however Kabarak University (School of Law) and PCEA University called me but there was no money so i had to find other things to do. I became untrained teacher in Busia.
Let me start by saying that i am the first born in a family of 5 children and the only son, so the expectations that my parents had on me was above the roof. I had to set standards at an early age in all spheres of life. It was a humble upbringing with us living in a single room.

@Motivate_lifes Life is too short and too complicated to settle for someone who doesn’t make you laugh, for someone who doesn’t brighten your days with a smile or a silly joke, a random tickle session or a cutesy kiss on your cheek when you least expect it.
Today I am excited by the request from University of Warwick, in the UK, to be one of their Master of Philosophy External Examiners. Once an academic always an academic!
