I love jrpgs with alot of content , but when all my progress is invalidated in the next "part" it means it's pointless , if our progression with items , levels , etc carried through to each part I wouldn't have an issue with it .

And when you think about there are FREE TO PLAY games nowadays oh man that would of been unthinkable back then .
So while yes hardware has gotten more expensive the games themselves have gotten cheaper (Though they cost FAR more to create)

They could just give us a better looking version without adding in constant new filler and boom one disc
