Public schools and libraries are next on the chopping block, especially as we start seeing anti queer legislation get shut down time and time again. I have no doubt we'll see them both get defunded in many places for "unrelated reasons" just as they did back in the 60s.
Because college tuition today was made up by design in the 60s as a direct result of civil rights protests that eventually desegregated colleges and universities.
Since they couldn't segregate, they decided to charge ridiculous rates to even go to drive out minorities.
To all of the Republican members of Congress who are complaining about Biden’s student debt forgiveness… why don’t y’all just cancel the trillions of dollars that Trump gifted billionaires in the form of tax cuts and put it toward reducing the high cost of college in America?
Hateful power structures affect everyone. Everyone is now suffering from insane tuition rates regardless of marginalized status as well as the lack of publicly funded recreational facilities.
And it's still ongoing what with the anti queer bills, too.
PSA: until the 60s, colleges and universities didn't charge tuition at all. They only did it when CA gov Reagan proposed charging tuition to drive out "undesirables" after said the Black Panthers and other orgs started protesting segregation in colleges.
@CharlesArthurD3 @How_Decadent Yeah but its begging others to keep your lively hood going when you could work like a normal person, you might as well panhandle in the streets, no one deserves anything, and its not and exception if you’re non binary or trans or black or white or anything
