My parents and I, and all the doctors involved fought like hell to save Squeaks. I'm happy Squeaks is alive and healthy, and I wish the same for everyone. I want every life to be fought for. My greatest hope is that this research goes on to save lives.

Some commenters on the article are appalled at it, given that I live in Israel, and given the current crisis in Gaza. Seeing an article about a cat in Israel receiving top-notch care, contrasted with what the lives of Gazans have become... It's shit.

I'd kept most of my internal turmoil to myself, but after a month of bottling it up I had to air things out.
I hope the main takeaway from this is that human lives are irreplaceable, and every person deserves to enjoy life.

@SaiyanSerenityV A lot of people are terrifyingly dismissive of human lives. Apathetic to the suffering of specific people. It's so scary.
Everybody deserves to live life and experience the good it has to offer.
Nobody deserves this kind of pain.

@sekai22978 @scarabbi @LexiAlex Similarly, the rise in Islamophobia is equally worrying. In times like these hateful people are emboldened, and feel more justified than ever to inflict violence on innocent people.
What's happening isn't limited to Gaza, to Israel, to the Middle East. This sends ripples.
