I’m back in the studio so I can make a better graphic for you. This is what we’re dealing with mainly between the Thursday and Friday timeframe, March 26-27. A powerful low pressure system deepens over Syria and Iraq with unusually strong wind shear on the southern/eastern end of the system. This overlaps with rich moisture and massive instability from Saudi Arabia and Yemen extending through to Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Oman, and parts of Iran on the other side of the Persian Gulf.

This combination of atmospheric ingredients paints a grim picture of widespread violent thunderstorms with a range of hazards. Firstly, extreme rainfall rates will lead to areas of flash flooding, and this could be an even greater risk because of recent and ongoing heavy rain. In addition, these storms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large to potentially destructive hailstones, and tornadoes. Excessive lightning is yet another hazard.

Please pay very close attention to this situation and be safe!
