Let’s talk listings real quick because this is one of the most misunderstood things in crypto.

A lot of projects rush to “get listed” without understanding how these platforms actually work then wonder why they get rejected or why the listing doesn’t do much.

Let’s start with the big two: CoinMarketCap (CMC) and CoinGecko (CG).

They’re data platforms, not magic growth machines.

For a tracked CMC listing, the asset generally needs to be publicly traded with material activity on a CMC-tracked exchange, alongside things like a functional website, block explorer and a project representative they can communicate with.

CMC also evaluates things beyond a simple checklist — trading activity, market pairs, community interest, project maturity, product/market fit and other factors all matter. Meeting the guidelines does NOT guarantee a listing.

CoinGecko similarly requires an actively tradable asset on a CoinGecko tracked exchange for a standard active listing. They also evaluate factors such as liquidity, team presence and project maturity.

And yes, both platforms have ways to speed up review but faster review does NOT mean guaranteed approval.

CoinGecko currently offers Fast Pass for expedited review, while CMC has its own official CMC Priority service.

One more important thing:

DON’T spam CMC or CG with “WHEN LIST?” messages.

CoinGecko specifically says repeated community spam can result in a token being disqualified from listing, while CMC warns against spamming its request process or encouraging others to do it.

Then you have the smaller discovery platforms.

Sites like Top100Token, Coinboom, CRYPTOTIPS4ALL, CoinRadar, Gemfinder and others can serve a different purpose mainly discovery, visibility, voting and promotional exposure.

They can be useful, but don't confuse visibility on a small discovery platform with being listed on CMC or CoinGecko.

Before chasing ANY listing, a project should have its basics together:

✓ Clean, professional website
✓ Working explorer + verified contract where applicable
✓ Clear token information and supply data
✓ Genuine trading activity and liquidity
✓ Active, authentic community
✓ Accurate logo, socials and metadata
✓ Transparent project information
• No fake volume, bot activity or inflated metrics

Because here's the truth:

Listings are not magic. They’re amplifiers.

If the foundation is weak, a listing doesn't suddenly fix the project.

It just gives more people a chance to see what was already there.

This is one of the areas I specialize in most, alongside community management and moderation.
