Il sovraffollamento è frutto di politiche ben precise. Fino a quando continueremo a pensare che tutti i problemi di una società si risolvono con il carcere questa sarà la situazione"

[ryuichi sakamoto @ryuichisakamoto]

For Your GRAMMY® Award Consideration – Ryuichi Sakamoto 'Opus' for Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album.

Composed for the 1983 film of the same name, "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" marked the beginning of Sakamoto's career in film scoring.
This iconic piece, with its timeless melody, has been a beloved classic for over four decades.

In this solo piano arrangement from 'Opus,' Sakamoto breathes new life into the composition.
The gentle arpeggios and the deliberately slow tempo of the main theme create a sense of nostalgia and emotional depth. As the piece progresses, Sakamoto's dynamic arrangement of the originally synthesizer-driven development section elevates the emotional intensity, leading to a powerful and cathartic climax.

The last time S.Korea was under the martial law was 1980 when the army brutally quashed the Gwangju pro-democracy uprising, which 2024 Nobel winner Han Kang poignantly portrayed in HUMAN ACT. Han & Pres. Yoon make us revisit the historical trauma in such different ways in 2024.
