We all want to live in peace and freedom. She has worked her whole life for peace on our earth. But now, at the age of 82, she is in detention center. Is this what a person deserves who has done everything for peace ? #ReligiousFreedom#ReleaseTheMotherOfPeace#FreeKorea
BREAKING: Today, prosecutors in South Korea asked the court to sentence Dr. Hak Ja Han to what, at age 83, would effectively amount to the rest of her life in prison.
That recommendation is not the court's verdict. The judges will issue their decision on August 31.
What struck me most today, however, was not the prosecution's request.
It was True Mother's own words.
After decades spent traveling the world advocating peace, reconciliation, and one family under God, she stood before the court and said:
"I have dedicated my entire life to realizing world peace for humanity. I do not seek power through wealth."
She did not speak about revenge. She did not attack her prosecutors or condemn Korea.
She spoke about attending Heavenly Parent, ending war, and leaving a better world for future generations.
Whatever one's opinion of this case, every democracy is ultimately measured not by how it treats the popular, but by how faithfully it upholds due process, fairness, and human dignity when they matter most.
The legal process is not over. The court has yet to rule.
Until then, I will continue praying for truth, for justice, for Korea, and for peace.

Targeting of Religious Leaders in South Korea: Long Pre-Trial Detention Risks Social Exclusion of Religion
South Korea is seeing specific religious leaders and pastors subjected to prolonged pre-trial detention and aggressive raids on churches.
Key Cases (no final convictions yet):
- Pastor Son Hyun-bo (Segero Church, Busan):
Detained since Sept 8, 2025; held for about 5 months (143 days); released early 2026 with suspended sentence.
- Dr. Hak Ja Han (Unification Church):
Detained since Sept 22, 2025 (age 83); held for more than 290 days (over 9.5 months) with several temporary medical releases.
- Lee Man-hee (Shincheonji):
Detained since June 24, 2026 (age 95); held for ~17 days so far.
In addition, many churches and pastors — including Yoido Full Gospel Church — faced aggressive raids and questioning over their political statements and controversial May 18-related remarks.
These forceful searches by special prosecutors under the Lee Jae-myung administration risk fostering the view that "religion itself is the problem in society and we don’t need it to live."
We need to bring attention to the targeting of religious leaders.
"All religions seek virtue, seek for the good.. let us join hands, let us join our hearts, and let us solve the problems afflicting humanity today.. let us form a family of humanity under God" Dr Hak Ja Han Moon Universal Peace Federation Co-Founder #UPF
Official Statement of FFWPU North America and FFWPU Europe & the Middle East on the Case of Republic of Korea v. Dr. Hak Ja Han
July 8, 2026 (USA time)
On July 10, prosecutors in South Korea are expected to deliver the government’s final arguments against Dr. Hak Ja Han, the Mother of Peace. It seems inevitable that they will ask for a conviction and seek a lengthy prison sentence for an 83-year-old spiritual leader whose life has been defined by the pursuit of peace, unity, and reconciliation for all humankind.
After mobilizing hundreds of police and investigators, and spending millions of dollars, the prosecutors have failed to show that she ordered, directed, or intended any crime. After months of detention and interrogation, the government’s case rests on innuendo, association, and a maze of technical accusations that obscure more than they prove.
As her life story confirms beyond any legitimate challenge, Mother Han answers to a higher calling. She knows what is in her heart and what she pursues, and even now, she asks us to respond not with bitterness or fear, but with prayer.
This is not the first time our founders, Mother Han and her late husband, Rev. Sun Myung Moon have stood before the powers of this world. Like so many other religious leaders, they have been misunderstood, accused, and persecuted for their faith and commitment to peace.
This moment is larger than one trial. This represents a test of whether people of faith in South Korea can still speak truth to power.
We will keep praying and remain strong. We are confident that the truth will be revealed, and Mother Han's work for lasting peace will not stop. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. often said, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.”
Dr. Hak Ja Han Trial: Final Arguments Scheduled for the 10th
The first trial for Dr. Hak Ja Han, leader of the Family Federation (Unification Church), on charges of violating the Political Fund Act has reached its final stage.
The concluding arguments will be held on the 10th at Seoul Central District Court.
The biggest point of contention is whether Dr. Han gave direct instructions or was involved in the alleged crimes.
The prosecution claims the acts were carried out under Dr. Han’s “systematic organizational approval.” Dr. Han’s defense strongly denies this, stating, “Everything was a personal deviation by former Secretary General Yoon Young-ho acting on his own.”
The defense has attacked the credibility of Yoon’s “special report” documents, which the prosecution presented as key evidence.
They pointed out that “the reports from the day and the day before the alleged 100 million won payment to Rep. Kwon Seong-dong contained neither his name nor any details of the funds.”
Dr. Han’s side emphasized that Yoon “arbitrarily interpreted the pure religious ideal of ‘God-centered Unified Korea’ as secular political intervention for his own ambition.”
They cited the March 22, 2022 private meeting between Yoon and then-President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol as an example, noting Dr. Han had no prior knowledge and was only informed the next day.
Court testimony also revealed the church’s extremely lax accounting system, where large sums of cash were tracked only with Post-it notes and memory.
This lax, makeshift system allegedly allowed Yoon Young-ho to divert funds arbitrarily at his own discretion.
In Yoon’s separate trial in January, the court recognized Dr. Han’s approval and sentenced him to 1 year and 2 months in prison.
However, it cannot be assumed that the same conclusion will be reached in Dr. Hak-ja Han’s case as well.
