@RRDirector As a student I represented myself at an Employment Tribunal. The ‘big scary boss’ had a lawyer, whose closing statement was phrased in a way that was favorable of my character/intentions. I thought this was done subconsciously or by mistake. But perhaps it was purposeful. I won!

Quick words of solidarity for Imane Khelif given to media debauchery around her masculinisation and alienisation led by the usual suspects.

Khelif, it is reported is a woman who despite being born a woman and identifying with that gender, has suffered from elevated testosterone levels, like many women like her — who also identify as a woman.

Again androgen-based unbalance/variability do have a hereditary component, some hormonal conditions are more prevalent in certain racial groups.

In any event, she was admitted in the competition as a woman.

So….in case you still need evidence that transmisogyny will necessarily lead you to white supremacy… and vice versa, trans exclusionary logics’ first casualties will always be black and brown women, since formations of womanhood are centred around white femininity.

Which have always whimsically and politically barred us from womanhood , often based on appearances alone and/or associated notions of innocence, virtuosity, purity etc.

And what a display of the same today.

We have a white woman walking away from a fight. Her choice. I respect it fully. But her choice nonetheless.

She walked away in tears, we know that scenario. These tears, we are familiar with.

Again, we can feel sympathy and compassion, big event, big loss. But we know how potent they can get, these tears. And how they can be weaponised.

Added to the tears, she says she feared for her health in the ring, I read life.

Likely activating lots of fantasies, thus going well beyond the reality of the situation.

She was in the ring for less than a minute but said, she never got hit so hard.

We now have the press at large and the populace portraying the brown woman (who incidentally/usefully) also happens to be Muslim, as the aggressor/usurper… she is vilified. She becomes a brown MAN!

Incredible really.

Transphobia quickly entered the room.

Everyone rallies around the damsel in distress — who is a professional, Olympian boxer, no less.

This is where my compassion for her plight gets tested. When it leads to hatred.

I am writing on the basis of the information available in the public domain, that Khelif was born a woman.

But of course, she has been turned into a brown man beating white damsels in distress in the ring, there has been a slight air of orientalism floating around.

In the mist of it all…a question I do want reflect on;

Should there provisions for combat sports when it comes to hormonal profiles which may grant a physical ‘advantage’ obtained by birth or otherwise and which remain unmitigated by medication that could lead to increased risks of death or disability in the opponent, when they are not matched? Regardless of gender identity?

If so what could be put in place instead of exclusion or ban?

And I think that a valid question to ask. We can ask that question without engaging in transphobia.
