@karianneholt I didn't after my first year or two - it became automatic to get into swear-free teaching zone. But earlier in my career I'd start to swear and change the word as I caught myself. Usually "Sh...shoot."
@tmowtx I completely agree! I feel like the application process gave me so much more than I was expecting. It helped me clarify goals, showed me an amazing community of writers, and provided huge support and motivation.
@JustinRColon Thank you so much for this thread. This is exactly what I needed to hear today. So grateful for this community and for all of your thoughtful, hard work.
@MissNikkiIn5th It's just one step building trust and open communication. It's not enough on it's own but it definitely helps. And it lets kids define what to share about their lives. I heard the idea from a colleague who probably got it from here: https://t.co/xhs00aELNA (2/2.)
@MissNikkiIn5th I've had better luck with a weekly "I want you to know" assignment. In class, students have 10 minutes to privately write down anything they want me to know. It's private and it gives me great information. (1/2.)
@jilltataraworld @tmowtx @JustinRColon It was really exciting to do this with other people and know we're part of a bigger community. Yay for PB writers! #PBChat
@JustinRColon Getting back to some of my works in progress. Naming my goals in the application gave me a push to dust off some older pieces and get writing.
@mrs_cmt1489 Agreed! @joboaler has amazing resources for teaching students that math is not about memorized facts. It's creative, flexible, and visual. Her website is incredible and I especially love her mindset videos. https://t.co/vwwkuBeVvx
