🇯🇵 Japan's cabinet has approved a bill to classify Bitcoin & crypto as financial instruments under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, the same framework that governs stocks and bonds.

The provisions are designed to strengthen investor protection, disclosure, and market integrity:

• A ban on insider trading
• Mandatory annual disclosures by crypto issuers
• Stricter penalties for unregistered activity

If passed by the National Diet, the changes would take effect in fiscal 2027.
