yet again, like Maine’s BTOP “Three Ring Binder” network over a decade ago, this major fiber project idea owes much to the careful thought & steady guidance of @jeffletourneau & and his @Networkmaine team.
Not everything done in the world has to be about maximizing profits!
We got the best news, MOOSE Net is a go!! MCA has been awarded a $30 million competitive federal grant to improve broadband infrastructure in Maine. Read our press release here: https://t.co/c7lYYKa0dt And learn more about MOOSE Net here: https://t.co/4eugax3i85
We have created a new leadership position that will focus on our services to the University System. I'm really excited about the opportunity to bring in someone with operational experience and a customer focus.

Just another way that an Internet Exchange can add value.... helping to keep traffic local. @Networkmaine we are pleased to have helped make this happen.
We've been awarded $1.0M from @NSF to light 2 400Gbps waves from UMaine to the @MGHPCC and the NoX GigaPoP w/ add/drop in Keene, NH & Portland, ME to interconnect with other northern New England research partners in the future. https://t.co/pTHHmq17sJ
Networkmaine is excited to share that teachers in Maine can participate in a virtual PD workshop this summer from the Presidential Libraries and @Internet2CAP for free! Learn more: https://t.co/oNnvKj9sii
Earlier this week we turned up a direct peer with @Amazon at @mass_ix. This peer brings greater resiliency and performance to Maine’s research and education community when accessing services hosted in Amazon's cloud. #aws#IXP#broadband
It has been awhile since we have posted to social media. Sorry about that. We've been busy installing a 100Gbps network throughout northern and downeast Maine while increasing the connectivity of over 800 K12 schools and public libraries to at least 1.0 Gbps.
Participating in an Internet eXchange brings great value. We've needed to triple our capacity in less than 4 years as we peer with more and more networks. Lower latency and greater diversity of routes creates stronger networks. Thanks @mass_ix
Don't miss our next regional #Telehealth Office Hour event co-hosted with @bistatepca & others on 8/4, as we're joined by Broadband experts from VT and ME for a conversation around tackling the #digitaldivide!

Indeed. Why should taxpayer money build a service that is not what the private sector is claiming to do with its own cash? One of the reasons Maine just defined broadband as 100/100 service. https://t.co/hEy1WFXSh4
Local, county, and state coordination and collaboration will be key to gaining the most from the federal ARPA funding. @MEBroadband & its co-hosts are convening BB stakeholders on June 25th @ 9am. Link below has more info along with how to register.

It is the 10th anniversary of World IPv6 Day, so the 9th anniversary of @WorldIPv6Launch! On June 6 of 2021, @Akamai served 8.3 million IPv6 requests over the course of a day. Today, Akamai serves many times that number of IPv6 requests *every second*.
"American households obviously believe broadband means 100 Mbps or faster" @connectmaine agrees with you today voting to define BB as 100/100 or faster! I thank my colleagues for joining me on this vote.
