@EinatWilf From reading the other comments, I guess you meant to say "the results were 208 against us to 129 in our favor." Given the likely pre-debate mindset of the audience, that probably was a victory of sorts. Was there a pre-debate vote?
@EinatWilf@pigeon_t@wolfejosh Apparently, I do not understand how the debate works. Given that you stated above "the results were 208 to 129 in our favor", how come you lost? Is the vote just one of many factors determining the winner? Could someone please explain?
There is no real 100%. In any dispute, there are two sides. Historically, 0% of the entire Jewish homeland area to which Rome gave the European colonial name, "Palestine" in 135 CE, was part of an Arab nation. At that time, no Arabs lived there, and it was about 5 centuries later (in 643 CE) that the Arabs invaded and occupied the land. When she says that Israel offered 97%, that is 97% of what the Arabs (who since the 1960s started calling themselves Palestinians) asked for. Also, land trades of comparable Israeli land was offered to make up the remaining 3% area. You rarely get 97% of what you ask for in a dispute. Also, if that was not good enough, the Palestinians could have made a counteroffer rather than abruptly rejecting the whole thing and launching a reign of terror. As President Clinton stated, โThe Palestinians were offered a state. They refused. A state was not their goal. Killing Jews was.โ https://t.co/FmmHjlr0za
The average billionaire in the US pays about 25% of their income in taxes each year already. The total net worth of all the billionaires in the US is approximately $8 trillion. I believe that Bernie Sander's tax is on net worth, not on income. This is most likely unconstitutional, but even if it could be collected, 5% of $8 trillion is only $400 billion, not $4.4 trillion. $4.4 trillion is over 50% of their entire net worth.
Apartheid, settler colonialism, and genocide is promoted by Islamism and Islamic imperialism. Israel and the US oppose those things and have been protecting the world against them. I am very grateful for the work that Israel is doing and I support the way in which Israel has been defending itself.
I agree. Israel, and the US, are doing more than the rest of the world put together to protect our modern free world civilization from Islamic terrorism and Islamic imperialism. Israel has been defending itself against constant attacks in the most humane manner possible. I am proud of Israel and Germany should take pride in the fact that it has generally been supportive of Israel.
That is a fake quote. At that time, virtually no one called the Arabs that happened to be in or near Israel Palestinians. Until the 1960's, most Arabs denied they were Palestinians. The people generally identified as Palestinians were Jews, the actual indigenous people of that region going back over 1000 years prior to the time it was given the European colonial name of Palestine. Ironically, even thought Churchill recognized that the Jews were the rightful owners of most of what was called the Palestinian Mandate, he gave about 78% away to the Arabs to be ruled by the Arab Hashemite dynasty, whose origin was really Saudi Arabia. That area is now called Jordan and 65% of its population now consider themselves to be "Palestinians." Thus Jordan is the real "Palestinian state."
We decent Jewish folk don't need to apologize for defending ourselves against genocidal attacks. Though I may question some of the tactical decisions and other decisions made by Netanyahu, I broadly support what he, the IDF, and Israel in general has achieved in Gaza and I stand behind it. Gone are the days in which Israel (or Jews in general) will simply accept being subjected to attacks without responding to such attacks in the most appropriate manner of which we are capable.
I admire him for all the good that he has done. However, I believe that there are others now who probably could do better. Bennet, Lapid, and Eizenkot are strong contenders that might offer a fresh approach. I hope that the ultra-rightwing extremists, such as Ben-Givir can be left out of the next Israeli government.
I thought that Bill Clinton was going to achieve an agreement. I was shocked when the Palestinians refused the offer of an an independent state that he negotiated for them. That is when I began to realize exactly what he (Clinton) is saying. The Palestinians never really wanted a state. They wanted to kill all the Jews.
Bill Clinton: โThe Palestinians were offered a state. They refused. A state wasn't their goal. Killing Jews was."
This must be shared every single day.
That is one of the many reasons why Israel never has and never will starve children, bomb families, and commit genocide. Israel's recent efforts to defend itself against the genocidal actions of Hamas and the Islamic state are an admirable example showing why the IDF is one of the most humane armies on earth. I am very proud of Israel and IDF.
$65 million is a relatively small amount. According to Wikipedia, Qatar has spent "As of early 2026, $62.4 billion in aggregate funding has been disclosed, making Qatar the largest foreign funder of U.S. higher education through a combination of direct gifts, contracts, long-term operating agreements, and foreign branch campus support in Dohaโs "Education City."" see https://t.co/GZaAhVfO8l
