We’re going all in on World Models.
Today we’re launching the 1X World Model Lab.
The bet is simple:
You can’t fine-tune your way to AGI.
And you definitely can’t fine-tune your way to robots that can operate in the physical world.
General-purpose humanoids need models that understand space, motion, objects, causality, affordances, physics, and action before they ever see a specific task.
The frontier is not better VLA wrappers.
The frontier is embodied world models.
The 1X World Model Lab will focus on large-scale embodied world model pretraining: building the most generalizable foundation model for humanoid robots from the ground up.
The next frontier in AI requires scaling:
web-scale media + egocentric human videos + sim + dexterous remote operated robot data + on-policy NEO data → real-world deployment for robot data collection and RL → abundance of data → physical AI
The robot collects data.
The model gets better.
The robot gets better.
Repeat.
To lead this, we brought in one of the best for the mission: @_sam_sinha_ , as Head of World Models.
Sam was a founding research scientist at Luma AI and has been at the frontier of scaling multimodal generative video models his whole career.
If you’re the best in the world at large-scale pretraining, video models, robotics, RL, infra, or data — and you want your models to move atoms, not just pixels — join us.

We’re building the model that makes autonomous labor real.
Officially 1 month since I switched to a flip phone.
- Everyone is more severely addicted to their smartphones than I thought. Once you have a dumbphone, you'll frequently find yourself as the only person in the room not on their phone. It's not just teenagers, it's parents and adults of all ages. It's like everyone is stuck in a trance. 75+ year olds might be the only exception.
- All the objections I previously had for getting a dumbphone have turned out to be overblown and/or solvable. My iPhone addiction had fed my brain excuses to not do this earlier. If you really want to make the switch, you can.
- I've felt embarrassed to pull out my flip phone in public at times, for fear of being different or drawing too much attention to myself. But I have learned to just own up to it. Most people end up saying something like "Oh, I probably should do that too."
- I am using my brain more. Even though my flip phone has Waze, I find myself memorizing maps and roads. I'm more bored and get lost in my thoughts. I'm using paper and pen more. Increased desire for tangible things > digital things.
Overall, it has been a great experience and I plan on never going back.
Tu as dit que c'était renouvelable non ?
Launching our new paper on arXiv: we trained the largest multilingual food model ever built.
4.1M recipes. 7 languages. 1,790 ingredients. 300 dimensions.
All of human cooking compressed into 2 megabytes.
We’re reimagining a 50-year-old interface - the mouse pointer - with AI. 🖱️
These experimental demos show how people can intuitively direct Gemini on their screens using motion, speech, and natural shorthand to get things done 🧵
Live from Code with Claude: we're launching dreaming in Claude Managed Agents as a research preview.
Outcomes, multiagent orchestration, and webhooks are now in public beta.
For 40+ years, building a robot that could rally with an elite human table tennis player at full speed was an unsolved problem. Sony AI's Ace research project set out to change that—and the results are now accepted for publication in @Nature and featured on the cover.
Apparently workers in China have been creating “colleagues.skill” to distill their coworkers hoping to make them redundant hence saving themselves. In response someone has recently invented an “anti-distillation.skill” that has gone viral on GitHub.🤣
New Anthropic research: Emotion concepts and their function in a large language model.
All LLMs sometimes act like they have emotions. But why? We found internal representations of emotion concepts that can drive Claude’s behavior, sometimes in surprising ways.
