This is the first paper in history to emerge from the Gaza refugee camp. To reduce disparities in neurosurgery, particularly for non-traditional students, I'll share my experiences as a Sub-I in future post to help aspiring neurosurgeons succeed in their rotations. As I am also learning, consider my advice as one individual's perspective. Attached is a document that I synthesize from various residents from my home program on how to effectively gather information for a successful consult. Since this is an ongoing project, I welcome any suggestions in the comments. Stay tuned for more tips as I continue my journey.

As a medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, I can see why the Mayo Clinic family found this place so inspiring. Like their hometown of Rochester, Minnesota, Tucson exudes those warm, small-community vibes. When the Mayo family visited the Pima County Hospital and interacted with the Desert Sanatorium Institute of Research, they likely saw a reflection of their own beginnings—a community where close relationships catalyze major innovations. Here in Tucson, we possess those same essential ingredients: a tight-knit community with a big heart, all driven by a shared mission to innovate and heal. This city has everything we need to come together and create something that has the potential to change the world.
