@Cate_cholamine I have a colleague that suffered from migraines with aura for half their life. They found out they can't break down folate due to MTHFR. I believe they started taking something like 5-Me-THF and have had a noticeable decrease in migraine occurrence.
@reddenjm Great point. The science was communicated really well, but the failure was in convincing the public and policymakers that they should care and take action.
This is ground breaking.
University of Texas scientists used AI to turn a personβs thoughts into readable text π€―
Alex Huth, assistant professor of neuroscience in computer science at UT-Austin worked with doctoral student, Jerry Tang, to develop what is called a βsemantic decoder.β
This technology uses artificial intelligence to interpret brain activity and can allow communication with someone who is mentally conscious but may be unable to speak, like someone whoβs had a stroke.
Using an MRI scanner, ideas and thoughts are mapped out, and an AI algorithms is then used to read those ideas out into words.
And this uses GPT-1 from 2019, imagine GPT-4's ability to decode human thoughts?
Hi ππΌ anyone willing to recommend their preferred external drive for data storage (mostly MATLAB files). Any and all suggestions are appreciated!
Mom was told she had to change her major because a service dog would NEVER be allowed in a lab. False! She was told she would never have a career as a neuroscientist because she had a service dog. False! She never quit fighting for equal access to science. Never! Give! Up!
Today, nobody showed up to my 8.15am class.
0 students of about 40. Sitting in the empty room, I email them, trying to disguise my hurt feelings.
2 mins later, I get a reply: "Professor, we think you might be in the wrong room." So anyway off I go to live in a hole forever.
Researchers have developed a new tool for non-invasive brain imaging that can cross the blood-brain barrier and can differentiate between healthy tissue and glioblastoma brain tumors in mouse models.

For Ph.D. students, choosing a supportive mentor is 100 times more important than choosing a PI who is working in the top/famous institution. #hapyresearchers@AcademicChatter
Before we all start dissecting the neuralink show and tell tomorrow I wanted to share some of the other neurotech startups that I think are doing cool stuff (besides us at @motifneuro of course!)
Itβs a great #neurotechrevolution community!! π§΅
