A week ago, I defended my PhD thesis about the role of REV-ERBs in astrocytes in neurodegeneration. None of this was possible without the support of my family, my PI, my wonderful lab and my friends. Now onwards into clinic

REV-ERBa/b DKO causes massive changes in brain gene expression and induces cell-autonomous astrocyte reactivity, enhancing aSyn degradation and lysosomal fxn in vitro, and mitigating aSyn spreading in vivo. These finding further support REV-ERB inhibition as a therapeutic target.
Excited that my thesis work from @ErikMusiek lab is out now! We describe the role of REV-ERB alpha and beta in regulating key neurological phenotypes, including modulating astrocyte reactivity and function in a cell-autonomous manner. Out in @PNASNews now
Please that @Neuro_Nada's paper in REV-ERBs is out today in @PNASNews. It shows that deletion of REV-ERB alpha & beta unmasks striking phenotypes.

Making a thesis defense presentation while my street got hit by the #STL#Tornado yesterday. Thankfully, I’m alright. God is sending a message but I’m not sure what it is.
Turning 30 today and this decade is going to bring some fun and interesting things real soon:
-Defending my PhD Thesis in a couple months
-Going back to med school in June
-Go to residency and learn how to be physician
4 years ago on #ElectionDay , I was studying for Cardio, Pulm, Renal, and Path block exams that week (that was a fun time 😅)
Now during #Election2024 I’m putting together my first solo first author manuscript.
Times change and yet the stress and deadlines remain
MSTP student extraordinaire @Neuro_Nada delivering his talk on astrocyte REV-ERBs at #CSHLglia. It's a big stage but he did very well. My first time at the meeting and it was great. Thanks to @ErinMGibson for highlighting our glial circadian translatome paper.
Very happy to finally present my PhD paper in the Musiek lab where we find astrocyte activation via loss of Bmal1 abrogates intra-neuronal tau/synuclein pathology! We also find Bag3 upregulation in a cluster of astrocytes in human AD patients that resemble DAA astrocytes! 👇
Excited to share @patwsheehan and @Neuro_Nada's new paper with @GusDavisLab out in @NeuroCellPress! Circadian clock disruption via Bmal1 KO protects against tau and synuclein pathology. How can this be? It’s the astrocytes! This led us to astrocyte BAG3 as a protective response.
Our @NeuroCellPress paper is finally out! We found a Bmal1-Bag3 axis in Astrocytes that is protective against Tau and Synuclein pathology! Check out the thread from fellow first-author @patwsheehan who spearheaded this awesome project

@KeystoneSymp#KSNeurodegen23#KSNeuroimmune23 was a fantastic experience! Seeing the forefront of groundbreaking research/therapy was incredibly heartening, and presenting our own was rewarding. Plus swam in a Canadian lake, had great food, and marveled at wondrous vistas
Thrilled to find out that our prediction of BAG3 regulation of tau aggregation in astrocytes published in https://t.co/dEUTn3mRTJ has been validated by Collin Nadarajah @Neuro_Nada in the @ErikMusiek lab at #KSNeurodegen23#KSNeuroimmune23@KeystoneSymp poster presentation!
