“Different” ≠ “Defective”
Dear Parents,
Please, PLEASE remember that saying “I hate #ADHD/#autism/#dyslexia/etc. & I wish there was a cure” in front of your #neurodiverse child is the same as saying “I hate YOU & wish to ERASE YOUR ENTIRE MIND & PUT SOMEONE ELSE IN YOUR BODY.”
Sincerely,
- Adult NDs

9 signs you might be autistic
1. You have a hard time finding people you connect with in a deep and meaningful way. You've struggled to make friends because of this.
2. You have a really hard time with unspoken rules or rules that don't make sense to you.
3. You feel misunderstood a lot of the time when you're talking to others.
4. You find social events extremely overwhelming and/or draining.
5. You have intense interests and have a really hard time not talking about them. This has had a negative impact on your relationships.
6. You are extremely sensitive to sensory inputs and experience sensory overload on a regular basis. Or alternatively, you find yourself undersensitive to sensory inputs and feel the need to seek out more of the inputs you're not getting enough of.
(Sensory under-sensitivity is actually a relatively common presentation of sensory differences, but I dont see it talked about much... or at all, really.)
