because it’s about the civil war. it’s not a fictional time in history. what you think is a funny addition to a manhwa was the real experience of black Americans and indigenous people. black people felt fear starting businesses, getting an education +
some of u r really showing ur true colours w "song of the wasteland", people have EVERY right to be angry about SLAVERY. calling them "wokejoshis" or comparing this EXTREMELY traumatizing and horrifying system to omegaverse is just so disgusting and im honestly appalled
Is it because people are incapable of consuming media set in controversial eras or rather people pointing out the blatant pajamafication and white saviorism baked into how the narrative is being pushed.
Even media that doesn’t endorse the crime can still be problematic
SIGH i hope that regardless what people think abt JAXX's work they are able to understand why people are reasonably upset and disappointed. slavery and civil war being used for a backdrop of a korean manhwa (saying, as a korean myself) definitely makes it valid to be worried
THIS TAKE!! I feel like people who try to say “it’s just a fiction story.” Doesn’t understand how BAD white Americans treated there slaves.
My ancestors was literally eaten, beaten, babies was used as alligator bait, Woman, man AND young Children was rape , They force Sons to rape there mothers as punishment, and the worst of all after the civil war Lynching became really popular and Jim Crow happens!
So when Black or Brown people criticized Jaxx work please try to understand and see it from their view for a second. I personally won’t make any further comments until more chapters come out and see how Jaxx handles this.
“Separate the historical setting” from a civil war au???? do you think freeing slaves magically lead to the end of black oppression??? this is focusing on a white person being a savior, not really highlighting the suffering that black ppl had to go under while enslaved
No offense idgaf if the yt man isn’t a slave master or if he was with the union cause
1. THE UNION WASN’T AND NEVER CARED FOR BLACK PEOPLE
2. Our Sufferings should never be used as backdrops for romance
3. Cancel this manhwa immediately
Anyway, if you guys want an actual, well-researched western BL, there’s an indie artist who’s drawing a former enslaved & Chinese immigrant couple navigating racism & homophobia in the 19th century. It’s so well-done & endearing.
Their U/N is @/blearyfrog
american chattel slavery was one of the most brutal *genocides* in history, so much so that its consequences are still visible today, the extreme trauma endured by enslaved people even left epigenetic effects in later generations. so to a story like this is a disgusting mockery.
