The shift from an Ethereum Layer 2 to a Layer 1 blockchain was driven by Neva's commitment to true decentralization and community empowerment. While Layer 2 solutions are great for scalability, they still depend on Ethereum, which limits autonomy and flexibility.

Worth to note that the decision was also motivated by the vast number of competitors in the Layer 2 space, which leave very little room for growth and opportunities for smaller L2 projects. As a Layer 1, Neva can differentiate itself through various aspects of decentralization, allowing it to stand out and thrive.
