🛠️ Yesterday, Nevada Builders joined @tmccnevada for a career fair with students from the @aactreno and Dilworth Middle School! Stacey was on site helping spread the word and share opportunities in the construction industry with the next generation of builders.

March is Women’s History Month but we’re also excited to celebrate Women in Construction Week! With that in mind, we thought it would be fitting for me to share some insights as your board president.

My career started over 20 years ago, when I started out cleaning the office for my father. While I was raised in the construction and building industry, working at my family’s business Smith Electric, there was still plenty I had to learn. I’m proud of the connections I’ve built and the skills I’ve mastered, which allowed me to become president of Smith Electric and president of the board for our organization.

I’m also proud of all the women I’ve worked with throughout my career and continue to work with today. Whether they’re in the office, on the job site or part of a project management team, they have defined themselves as an integral part of our industry. It’s encouraging to see so many women bring their skills to the table and help in our mission to build a better Nevada.

🚨 Attention Nevada Contractors! 🚨

Senate Bill 82 of the 2023 Nevada Legislature added an annual reporting requirement for the Apprentice Utilization Act (AUA) (NRS 338.1165). All contractors who worked on public works projects in the State of Nevada during 2024 need to report the hours they employed apprentices for those projects.

Please look through instructions carefully as non-compliance may result in fines up to $75,000 and debarment from public works projects for up to 2 years. The portal is open until February 15th at 11:59 p.m.
