A memorial service for Hector Gutierrez will be held Saturday, Aug 22, from 2-3 pm at Palm Northwest Mortuary in Las Vegas. The funeral home will live stream the ceremony at https://t.co/tOsoNPELAV. Gutierrez, a NDOC Digital Telecom Specialist, passed away Aug 2 from COVID-19.

Each month, NDOC leadership visits Nevada offenders housed at Saguaro Correctional Center in Eloy, Arizona to check on their well-being & answer Qs they may have. This month's visit by B. Williams, Deputy Director of Programs, who let the offenders know that NV cares about them.
NDOC's Medical Director has determined that, in the interest of public, staff & offender safety, all NDOC staff be tested for COVID-19 every 2 weeks. This mandatory testing initiative started August 3 & occurs at the facility where the staff member works.

Ely State Prison opened in 1989 as Nevada’s only max-security prison. ESP offenders participate in vocational training, educational opportunities & treatment services. Staff are proud of their reputation as leaders in corrections & work hard to ensure safe & humane conditions.
To help offenders stay connected with family & friends, NDOC has extended 2 programs - eligible offenders can receive up to 2 free phone calls per week; also a 50% discount of secure messaging which allows the community to send emails (without attachments) to offenders.
The staff at Pioche Conservation Camp provide a safe environment where support staff can provide evidence-based programming to modify offender behavior and provide them the opportunity to become productive citizens.

Beautiful murals depicting natural scenes are displayed throughout the housing units at Ely State Prison. The murals, created by ESP offenders in the 1990s, encourage other offenders to consider art as a means of creativity, communication, and reflection.
Recruits from 19-PST-02E learn correctional best practices during training at Ely State Prison. These future correctional officers are committing themselves to the protection of the public, safety of NDOC staff, and security of Nevada’s offenders.
