ON THIS DAY - 5 October 2021 πΏπΌπ
Zimbabwe Women played their first-ever official ODI.
Ireland: 253/8
Zimbabwe: 254/6
And captain Mary-Anne Musonda made the occasion unforgettable.
Zimbabwe were 25/2 when she walked in.
She walked off 103 NOT OUT, Zimbabwe's first female ODI centurion, having led her country to victory in its very first ODI.
Five years ago today. History on debut. πΏπΌ
Which bat did you use? (or want?)
We had a communal kit and being an opener I had first pick, DF Attack! Loved that bat, it eventually broke (Am sure @NeverLundu1 could have restored it!). My partner had a County bat which I borrowed if he was dismissed first.

The men who steadied the ship during Zimbabwe Cricket's darkest chapter.
Kevin Curran.
Dave Houghton.
Hamilton Masakadza.
Sean Williams.
Tatenda Taibu.
Ray Price.
...and many others.
When others walked away, they remained. They played. They led. They carried Zimbabwe Cricket through its toughest years and helped lay the foundation for its rebuilding.
Their loyalty, sacrifice, and belief in the badge should never be forgotten. πΏπΌπ
Milton Shumba is getting far too much criticism. He had an outstanding domestic season and brings valuable left-arm spin. Of all those being labelled "passengers," I'd still back him to get a proper run.
The dropped catches are my only concern. Keep your head high, lad. πΏπΌπͺ
We want to give away two @ZimCricketv jerseys every match day of the Bangladesh white ball series. If this tweet doesn't get 100 retweets by 9.30am on Monday, we will add the 6 jerseys for Harare to the 6 we will be giving away in Bulawayo.
Congratulations to @SRazaB24 on winning both the Sportsman of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year awards at the Zimbabwe Annual National Sports Awards (ANSA). Congratulations as well to Zimbabwe Cricket for being named the National Sports Association of the Year.
The Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture in collaboration with Zimbabwe Cricket, conducted a tour of key cricket infrastructure sites in Masvingo, Ncema Valley (Umzingwane) and the emerging facility in Victoria Falls earmarked for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. A delegation led by the Permanent Secretary Mr. N. Moyo alongside Zimbabwe Cricket leadership, revealed significant progress in infrastructure development, including the upgrading of first-class facilities in Masvingo, the establishment of a National Cricket Academy at Ncema Valley under a 100-year lease, and strategic preparations for a world-class venue in Victoria Falls.
The facilities collectively demonstrate a deliberate shift towards decentralised, inclusive and community-integrated cricket development, anchored on long-term planning, grassroots participation and international event hosting ambitions. Notably, the Ncema model stands out as a transformative rural infrastructure case, while Masvingo highlights heritage and first-class readiness, and Victoria Falls positions Zimbabwe within the global hosting matrix.
