A disastrous incident happened at Junagadh on the "first of the dark half of Margashirsha", December 5-6 150 AD.

Water churned by a big storm "tore down hill-tops, trees, banks, turrets" and "everything scattered & broke to pieces."

The rains led to flooding of nearby Suvarnasikata, Palasini rivers and broke the dam on "mount Urjayat".

It led to a breach 214 meters long on the Sudarshan lake, resulting in all the water escaping from the lake & flooding the nearby region.

The lake, constructed on the orders of Chandragupta Maurya, 450 years before, was again reconstructed by Suvishaka, a minister of Rudradaman-I.

The above information we get from the Junagadh inscription of Rudradaman-I (150 AD).

This is probably one of the first times, we know about a natural calamity in India through epigraphic records.
