The answer to last week's #TriviaTuesday question: In 1905, the Hagerstown Public Library in Maryland began the first public library service on wheels. The “bookmobile” was a horse-drawn wagon and was designed by Mary Lemist Titcomb, head of the library at the time.

The rescheduled Council meeting will begin tonight at 6:00 PM. If you are unable to attend, the meeting can be watched on TV and online. The waterfront development proposal on the agenda is an exciting option for CBRL's entire library system and for all the citizens it serves.

Did you know that the McConnell Library opened in 1960? It’s no surprise that we have outgrown our beloved building since! This space has constrained the ability of our library to serve the growing needs of its users for long enough. Our community deserves a new central library.
