โก๏ธ SHADOWPAW IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -Shadowpaw is at risk due to ongoing, distance increasing behaviors displayed in care. He is an under socialized cat who may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is currently quick to lunge, hiss, and swat with nails extended during interactions. These behaviors have made cleaning tasks more difficult for staff to complete as he is much quicker to escalate. Due to these behaviors, Shadowpaw had to be moved into a lower traffic room. Staff have reported that in this room, he still continues to escalate. He would benefit from being placed into a stable home where he can be given the appropriate space to decompress. Medically, he has stage III dental disease. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Meet Shadowpaw! Shadowpaw is a bit of a wallflower here at the shelter. He prefers to keep things more low-key, hanging in the shadows or cuddling up in a nice hiding spot. He's in need of more socialization as an adult cat so he's best suited for an adult-only home with experienced adopters who have lots of love and patience to give. Think you're the one who can give this little guy the TLC he needs? Stop by and say hi to Shadowpaw at SIACC! A volunteer writes: Shadowpaw kind of knows that patience is a big ask, especially when he's surrounded by so many bright and playful kitties. He would like to be included too, just at a pace that's a bit slower than some of the other cats you might meet. We don't know a lot about his life before the shelter as he came to us from a home with many other cats and not nearly as many opportunities to meet new people. Thus, he doesn't always know what to make of us. Shadowpaw enjoys having a little space and time to make his own decisions. If that's something you can spare with him, he'll be just the right fit. โค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ป

What my friends at ACC say about me: I can go home today! I have lived with cats in my previous home. I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. Meet Snow White! We don't know too much about Snow White's backstory but we're trying to get to know her a little better. As a new addition to the shelter, she is still trying to unwind and get comfortable in a new environment with a lot of stimuli. Our hope is with time and a patient adopter Snow White can fully decompress in an environment where she feels safe and respected. She'd do best in an adult-only home where she's given the choice to interact on her terms. Positive reinforcement through treats and toys will definitely help her along, too. Think you can be her Prince Charming? Some to SIACC and say hello to Snow White today! Snow White tolerates minimal attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. โค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ป

โก๏ธ JOE IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
What my friends at ACC say about me: Joe tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter and may be intimidated by small children. He may be under-socialized and may always be a cat that avoids humans in the home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home with pet parents who prefer a cat companion that stays to themselves. I have lived with cats in my previous home. I have potential behavior challenges that staff will address with you when you meet me. I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. A volunteer writes: Perhaps feeling a little out of his depth here at the Care Center, Joe's taken to his den to sort things out. I don't want to assume, but I imagine there's an insurmountable kind of tinge to them only exacerbated by Joe's dedication to doing it all on his own. Joe came to us from a home with other cats and may prefer to do things this way as he also may not have a lot of experience meeting new people. We keep trying to explain that though we are new people, we also have treats, toys, blankets, and beds to offer. For his part, Joe seems almost entirely uninterested except not quite as he's adorably a little curious about treats. When it comes to making new friends or finding a forever family, we understand that Joe might have to try it his way first, we're just hoping that his forever family will love and appreciate his efforts as they welcome him into their home. โค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ปโค๏ธ ๐ป

Sunset is safe! When we first saw his video he looked relatively healthy, but not we have found out he is covered in wounds. Thatโs the thing about saying yes, you never know what could be going on with these cats.
Please help us catch up so we donโt have to close intake.
