Today, I attended a two-day High-Level Forum on the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and security in the Lake Chad region at the National Defence College, Abuja.
The theme of the forum was: “Repositioning the MNJTF to Effectively Combat Evolving Threats in the Lake Chad Region.”
As a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Nigerian Army with experience in security and governance, I joined other participants to discuss the changing threats from terrorist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP, as well as other cross-border crimes.
The MNJTF — made up of forces from Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, and Benin, with Niger having suspended its participation, remains a key regional force for fighting terrorism and restoring peace in the Lake Chad Basin.
This two-day forum is expected to strengthen regional cooperation and improve joint efforts to tackle new security challenges in the region.

Yesterday, I met with artisanal Miners and other stakeholders in the mining sector in Taraba State.
The interactive engagement, held at the Banquet Hall of the TY Danjuma House, Jalingo, brought together government officials, mining stakeholders, miners’ associations, and representatives of mining communities to discuss the challenges facing artisanal and small-scale mining in the state.
During the meeting, I reiterated our administration’s commitment to promoting safe, lawful, and productive mining activities across Taraba.
We are listening to the people directly involved in the sector, understanding their challenges, and supporting them to operate lawfully and productively.
We will protect water sources, train miners and health workers, and establish a clear system for reporting and correcting dangerous mining practices.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for artisanal Miners from different parts of the state to present their demands to the government.
In another development, I presented cheques totaling ₦2.5 billion (Two Billion, Five Hundred Million Naira) for various intervention programmes.
The breakdown is as follows: ₦500 million for the Taraba CARES Programme to support the empowerment of vulnerable households; ₦1 billion for the Taraba State Youth Development Agency to drive youth empowerment initiatives; and another ₦1 billion for relief and recovery efforts in Karim Lamido and other crisis-affected communities across the state.
As a government, we will continue to work with all people as partners in development and remain committed to investing in the welfare of every citizen.

Today, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State officially launched the Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots mobilization drive for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and my own re-election bid.
We unveiled campaign vehicles for the movement alongside the representative of the Founder/Convener of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo). He noted that the initiative is designed to coordinate and consolidate support for President Tinubu and all APC candidates across every polling unit ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The launch also provided an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to attracting more development to Taraba and to implementing more pro-people policies when re-elected in 2027.
Taraba is fully ready for the Renewed Hope era. The choice remains clear — APC, from top to bottom.

NIGERIA @ 66: A CALL FOR UNITY, RESILIENCE AND RENEWED HOPE
On behalf of the Government and good people of Taraba State, I heartily felicitate with all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the occasion of our nation's 66th Independence Anniversary.
Sixty-six years ago, our founding fathers dreamed of a free, united, and prosperous nation. From October 1st, 1960 till date, that dream has been tested by challenges but sustained by the indomitable spirit, resilience, and creativity of the Nigerian people.
As we celebrate, we remember and honour the sacrifices of our past heroes and leaders - both military and democratic - whose contributions, as depicted in this commemorative image, have shaped our journey as a nation. Their labours must not be in vain.
At 66, Nigeria stands at a critical crossroads. The task before us is to build on our diversity as strength, to deepen our democracy, secure our people, educate our children, and create an economy that works for all.
Here in Taraba, we are doing our part through the Moving Forward Agenda - investing in free education, security, agriculture, and inclusive governance to ensure that no one is left behind.
I once again thank the good people of Taraba State, especially our ordinary and vulnerable citizens, for your sacrifices, prayers and support.
I hear you.
I see your struggles.
I appreciate your confidence.
And I renew my promise to continue working for you with courage, humility and a deep sense of responsibility.
The mandate you gave me will remain a mandate for service.
The resources of Taraba will be used to develop Taraba.
The future of our children will remain at the centre of our decisions.
Together, we shall build a peaceful, prosperous, united, responsible and financially sustainable Taraba State.
Our Taraba.
Our Responsibility.
Our Future.
May God bless the good people of Taraba State.
May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Happy 66th Independence Anniversary!
Thank you, and God bless you all.

I visited the Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS) and Taraba Television (TTV) today to assess their facilities firsthand.
We are determined to modernize and reposition our state-owned media houses to deliver quality, professional, and people-focused public service.
The high point of the visit was going LIVE ON AIR to interact directly with Tarabans and give an account of what we have achieved so far in security, education, and other key areas.
Taraba is truly #MovingForward.
As part of efforts to ensure quality delivery and timely completion of projects, I went on an inspection tour of key ongoing projects in Jalingo today.
I visited the headquarters of the Kefas Agricultural Revolution at the TSTC Park, where I inspected agricultural facilities and equipment procured under the initiative. I also inspected projects at Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Government Science Secondary School, and the Taraba State Specialist Hospital.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Prof. Nicholas Oliver Nemesan, conducted me round the agricultural facilities and briefed me on the various components of the intervention.
We are not relenting in our efforts to keep Taraba working and to leave it better than we met it. Join us and support this vision.

I met with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu today, at the Army Headquarters, Abuja, to deepen collaboration on security in Taraba State.
Our discussions built on previous meetings and centred on strengthening operational support for troops and intensifying efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.
We remain committed to providing logistical and welfare support to the Nigerian Army, because we believe security is the foundation for development and prosperity.
I am encouraged by the Army's commitment to peace and the protection of lives and property, and we will continue to do our part to sustain peace and unity in Taraba.

Lovers of football and passionate supporters trooped out to witness the thrilling grand finale of the Jalingo Champions League. I was at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo, yesterday, to watch it live.
At full time, the score stood at 3-0, with Youth Development Agency FC emerging champions after a dominant victory over ATC FC.
Awards and trophies were presented to outstanding players and teams. I had the honour of presenting the Championship Trophy to Youth Development Agency FC.
My love and commitment to youth development have spurred this administration to prioritize sports. We have witnessed the immense talent and passion for football among young people in Taraba State.
I have directed the State Sports Commission to set up a committee to scout football talents across the 16 Local Government Areas of Taraba State. The Commission is also to organize similar competitions at the LGA level to deepen grassroots participation.
Furthermore, our administration will establish a Sports Academy dedicated to identifying, training, and nurturing young sporting talents in the state, ahead of the forthcoming Sports Festival.
The Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo and the Wukari Stadium have both been awarded for remodeling and reconstruction. Work will commence soon.
Our young footballers deserve every opportunity to showcase their talents and be groomed for professional careers, and we will stop at nothing to support them.

We hosted the maiden Taraba State Solid Minerals Investment Roundtable yesterday at the Banquet Hall, TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
The Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, urged investors to tap into Taraba’s mineral resources and partner with the state to become a leading mining destination.
To drive this, I have directed relevant MDAs to set up the Taraba Solid Minerals Investment Facilitation Desk — a one-stop platform to coordinate investors, government agencies, and host communities.
The Desk will handle geological information, land access, business support, security, infrastructure, and community engagement.
With Federal Government support, we are set to turn Taraba’s mineral resources into bankable investments that create jobs and sustainable revenue.
Our goal is clear: mining must deliver real benefits to host communities, jobs for our youth, and lasting revenue for Tarabans.

I attended the combined convocation ceremony of Taraba State University, Jalingo, today.
The ceremony, held at the University's convocation ground, was attended by top government functionaries, academics, traditional rulers, parents, graduands, and other dignitaries from within and outside Taraba State.
When our administration came on board in 2023, Taraba State University was plagued by numerous challenges. We confronted those problems head-on and took decisive steps to reposition the institution. Today, we are proud of the significant progress and development recorded therein.
We reduced tuition fees because university education should not be an exclusive privilege of the wealthy, but must be accessible to all qualified students.
I congratulate the graduating students and the academic staff, led by the Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, for their achievements, sacrifices, perseverance, and discipline.

We officially took delivery of 188 completed housing units under the Muhammadu Buhari National Housing Programme, today. The handover was performed by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma.
This is a huge win, especially as we work to accommodate personnel of our new military formations in the state.
The Federal Government also announced a new Social Housing Initiative to make affordable homes available to more Nigerians.
We thank the Federal Government for this investment in Taraba. We also call for more housing projects to be sited across the state.
Importantly, Taraba has been recognized as the first state to respond to the Ministry’s call to take over completed units — proof of our commitment to delivering results for our people.
Our promise remains: we will provide the environment and welfare that Tarabans deserve.

Taraba State at 35: Celebrating Our Journey, Building Our Future
Today, we celebrate 35 years of our dear Taraba.
Since its creation in 1991, Taraba has grown into a state defined by its diversity and vast potential. Our people — united across cultures, faiths, and communities — are the true strength of the "Nature's Gift to the Nation."
As we mark this milestone, I reaffirm our administration’s commitment to building a Taraba that is peaceful, secure, and prosperous for all.
We will continue to invest in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and youth development to secure a better future for our children.
To every Taraban, thank you for your sacrifices and contributions to our growth. Let us continue to work together in unity and purpose to make Taraba greater.
Happy 35th Anniversary, Taraba State.
God bless the good People of Taraba.
God bless Taraba State.
God bless Nigeria.
Today, I inaugurated the Governor’s Council on Drug Control and Social Renewal and the Task Force on Recovery and Confiscation of Government Lands.
The illegal use and occupation of government properties must stop. We have therefore directed the Task Force to identify such properties and make appropriate recommendations to government for their recovery.
Substance dependence is not only a criminal issue, but also a mental and public health concern. If left unchecked, it can have serious implications for our society.
I urged members of both committees to discharge their responsibilities effectively in safeguarding the future of our young people; and our society.

For four weeks, the STEAM Summer Team 2026 engaged children and young people from across Taraba in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics on the Mambilla Plateau.
Today, I hosted the team at the Exco Chamber, TY Danjuma House, Jalingo, where I received a briefing on their activities and remarkable achievements.
Investing in our young people through productive, educational, and skills-development programmes remains a top priority for us.
I assured the team of our partnership to make this a yearly programme and to expand it to all three senatorial zones of Taraba.
To further drive this vision, we have restructured the education sector by creating three ministries from the former Ministry of Education. This will help us better meet the learning needs of our children and youth.
