This charm of Newburgh's past is 160 A Grand Street! It's a beautiful brick Victorian building that is a testament to the city's rich architectural heritage. With its stunning facade and intricate details, it's a true gem.

The William Roe House was constructed in the 1830s. Although an apartment now, the house was a private girls' school of the Mackie sisters. Principal Mary Mackie used to teach in Virginia where one of her students was Booker T. Washington.

21 Grand Street was once home to #Newburgh's Anti Tuberculosis Society, Girls' Service League, Newburgh Agency for Dependent Children & the NYS Commission for "Mental Defectives." By 1978 it was used by Family Counseling Service of Orange County.

Here is another beautiful house located at 168 Grand Street. This house was built in 1884 and once belonged to A.Y. Weller, who was one of the establishers of Schoonmaker & Son, which was once the largest dry goods store in #Newburgh.
