A successful Friday! Five politicians came to Newburgh to open our campaign information hub in a former derelict shop. A big thanks to MPs Wendy Chamberlain & Peter Wishart and MSPs Willie Rennie, Murdo Fraser & Mark Ruskell.

MPs Wendy Chamberlain, Peter Wishart and MSPs Mark Ruskell, Murdo Fraser and Willie Rennie will launch our shopfront promotion in Newburgh, Friday 27th at 4.00pm. The derelict newsagents is rapidly being turned into the face of the campaign.

The shopfront launch comes as we wait for a decision on whether we get a station or not. Transport Scotland have had the business case for 14 months - a long time for a small capital project. Perhaps our request for a cheap, little station is a more complex thing than we thought.

Perhaps she won't. But maybe she will!

We trust that our representatives will have been pushing the Government to approve a new station - or at least to progress the business plan.

We wait to hear the 26/27 budget announcement in parliament tomorrow. We hope to hear good news. Newburgh has waited 15 years for a yes. It really is time that the town, AND other rural communities like it, get connected to rail.

Transport Scotland have had the Newburgh station business case for a year. Odd. It is not complicated. It makes no mention of shopping malls or space ports. It simply highlights the huge benefits a small unmanned modular station can bring to our community.

Mark Ruskell, Scottish Green MSP has made amends to a Conservative transport motion. he suggests that sustainable, public transport and active travel should be priortised over large-scale road building. He writes about reconnecting communities such as Newburgh to the rail network

A train station for Newburgh will be one for many other small rural communities that could be connected to rail. They don't need £22m of full-featured station. A simple 15-75m platform will do. This could be a sustainable revolution in simple access to rail in rural places

A very possible Newburgh future - a train arrival from Perth and on the nearby Tay is the inbound river taxi from Perth. Beside the station walkers, cyclists and wheeled travellers arrive in town on a safe active travel path. A bus waits by the station to pick up passengers.

Issues with a new Newburgh station? We have an accessible site on which to put the halt, with a free public car park nearby. There is the live Perth/Edinburgh service passing through the heart of the town. We do NOT need a long platform, just a cheap, 75m modular design will do.

All quiet, too quiet? No word from the Transport Secretary since she came to the town to 'see for herself' the case for Newburgh getting a station. Transport Scotland still writing the appraisal? Surprising, since we know how keen they are for us to have one.

...and still we wait for a decision about getting our own halt from the Transport Secretary. She suggested more urgency in getting a decision than appears to be the case.

Stagecoach are to withdraw the Newburgh bus service to Cupar. The nearest train station to us will be 45 mins away in Perth. We seem to be getting further away from a station as the year progresses.
