Newcastle City Council and UNISON have jointly signed the Disability Employment Charter that aims to improve the working lives of disabled people.
We were proud to have UNISON General Secretary Christina McAnea signing on behalf of UNISON and Cllr Karen Kilgour on behalf of NCC.
The second award goes to Nicky Ramanandi for all her work whilst being the UNISON Northern Regional Convenor.
Nicky will be missed and we want to wish her the best of luck in her new role.
Every year at the Regional Council AGM we present to the Kenny Bell award to members for their outstanding commitments to organising.
Christine is the first recipient for the work on Year of LGBT+ Workers in 2024.

Following 14 day of industrial action, Healthcare assistants have accepted an improved offer from the trusts.
The new offer will see backpay extended to July 2019.
UNISON Northern regional secretary Clare Williams said: “It’s great to see staff fairly compensated after a hard-fought campaign. These healthcare assistants have been working above their pay band for many years."
