I was with Georgia's Asa Newell in Southern California last week following his pre-draft process. His jumper is looking good, and his mobility and explosiveness stand out. He broke down his pre-draft with what he's working on and hoping to achieve in the next two months.
5⭐️ Asa Newell (@NewellAsa) is going to WRECK HAVOC on the SEC this season for @UGABasketball 🚂
Finished with 19 PTS & 7 REB in the Bulldog W vs. UCF—had 20 PTS on 9/10 FG against Charlotte earlier this month. 📊
The 6’11” Stretch 4 is living up to the bill in Athens 🔴⚫️
Georgia freshman Asa Newell’s fluid athleticism, offensive adaptability, and significant defensive versatility at 6-10 position him as one of the most dynamic and impactful newcomers in college basketball.
A Champion at the FIBA, HS & Grassroots level, the 19-year-old has consistently impacted winning at every stage, showcasing a strong baseline of skill and physical tools to tap into moving forward.

Asa Newell displayed impressive versatility on both ends of the floor at Formula Zero Elite Camp, attacking each session with consistent intensity — earning an 'Everyday Guy' award from the coaches.
The rising freshman at Georgia ran the floor hard and lived on the glass. He played well out of DHOs, showed optionality in the PnR with rolls/pops, and flashed growth as a floor spacer from 3.
He also showcased his unique handle and fluidity for a player his size — putting the ball on the floor, decelerating on drives to the cup, and playing through contact.
Defensively, the @MVABasketball, @1FamilyHoops, and @USABJnt product showed considerable range. He stepped out on the perimeter, moved his feet well with guards, and used his length to contain drives and contest shots.
Georgia freshman Asa Newell showed off his athleticism in front of NBA scouts during day one at Damian Lillard @frmlazro camp.
The 6’11” forward excels at running the floor and has a ton of two-way upside.
