"Do not pervert justice due to the foreigner or the fatherless, or take a widow’s cloak as a pledge." (Deuteronomy 24:17).

WHAT THIS MEANS SINCE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THEOLOGY.

"Pledge" was collateral for a loan.

Why the Cloak Was Protected:

A person's outer cloak (or garment) was often their most valuable physical possession. It served as clothing during the day. It was used as a blanket to keep warm at night. For a vulnerable person like a widow, losing her cloak meant enduring freezing temperatures and public humiliation.

When Deuteronomy 24:17 states,

"Do not take a widow’s cloak as a pledge," God is outlawing predatory lending practices.

Being a widow doesn't mean people should turn a blind eye to weird behavior.
