The Labour Party has learned nothing from the election result.

Residents voted for change. They voted for accountability, transparency and a stronger opposition voice. Instead, we are seeing more of the same old politics – backroom deals, horse-trading and attempts to keep control of the Council at any cost.

The people of Newham sent a clear message at the ballot box. No single party was given a mandate to dominate the Council. Residents wanted power to be shared, decisions to be scrutinised and politicians to work openly in the public interest.

Yet what we continue to see are political manoeuvres, deals behind closed doors and positions being traded while residents expect action on housing, street cleaning, crime, parking and the cost of living.

The Newham Independents will continue to stand up for transparency, challenge the Executive when necessary, and make sure the voices of residents are heard.

The election may be over, but our job of holding those in power to account has only just begun.

The people of Newham deserve honesty and transparency in politics.

Prior to the Annual Council Meeting, the Newham Independents and the Green Party had reached a written agreement regarding the election of civic positions and the operation of the Council. This agreement was discussed and understood by both parties.

However, minutes before the meeting, the Green Party changed its position. Despite the agreement that had been reached, Green councillors voted with and seconded Labour Party nominations for key positions, including the Vice Chair of the Council. In return, the Green Party secured the Chair of the Council position.

This decision was completely contrary to the written agreement and the assurances that had been given to us the day before the meeting.

Residents voted for change and for greater accountability at Newham Council. Many residents will rightly ask why commitments made in writing were abandoned at the last moment and why political deals took precedence over the alternative arrangements that had already been agreed.

We believe residents deserve openness about what happened and why. The Newham Independents will continue to hold the administration to account and stand up for the residents who elected us to represent their interests.

The choice is clear: we will continue to put residents first and remain a strong and independent voice for Newham.

This blessed occasion reminds us of the values of faith, sacrifice, compassion, generosity, and service to our communities. As families and friends come together to celebrate, let us also remember those who are less fortunate and those suffering from hardship and conflict around the world.

Newham is proud of its diversity, unity, and strong community spirit. Eid is a time to strengthen those bonds, support one another, and reflect on the importance of kindness and solidarity.

May this Eid bring peace, happiness, good health, and prosperity to you and your loved ones. May your prayers and sacrifices be accepted.

Nine years ago today, @NewhamIndParty were part of the Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn. Some of them travelled up from London to campaign for me in Derby North, which I successfully contested as the country's most Corbyn-centric candidate in England's most marginal seat.

Less than two years later I was suspended from the Labour Party for challenging the anti-Semitism scam and for defending grassroots activists who were being traduced by the genocidal Zionist lobby. I was also criticised for defending high profile victims of the witch-hunt like Ken Livingstone and Jackie Walker.

Two and half years after that photograph was taken, the Corbyn project lay in tatters and the path had been cleared for the Starmer regime. Starmer and his cronies have been so appalling that they've cleared the way for the political spivs and fraudsters in Reform.

Tragically, those days of hope that were exemplified in that 2017 campaign, were squandered by Jeremy Corbyn and the liberal left inside the Labour Party who bent over backwards to appease a bunch of Zionists who were hell-bent on destroying Jeremy's leadership.

That experience should serve as a cautionary tale to @ZackPolanski and the Green Party, who seem to be making the same mistakes that Jeremy Corbyn and the liberal left made by seeking to appease the Zionist lobby. That strategy is doomed to fail. The only hope that Polanski and Greens have is to confront the Zionists head on and never make any concessions to these bad faith actors. If you give Zionists a millimetre they will always take a mile.

They put up a stooge called Wais Islam to try & split the Muslim vote. To the credit of the local community he was identified as such & lost his deposit! Today the Greens showed their true colours on Palestine and Gaza at #NewhamCouncilACM
At the very last minute, they chose a behind-closed-doors deal with Labour just to secure the Chair of the Council, instead of standing with Alain and the Newham Independents to build a real challenge against Labour.
Power and positions clearly mattered more to them than principles, accountability, or the voices of people demanding justice for #Palestine
From today onwards, nobody can claim the @UKGreenParty are different. They are willing to shake hands with the very establishment they claim to oppose, even while Gaza burns and innocent Palestinian children continue to pay the price.
Politics without principles is nothing more than opportunism.
