We've had a very exciting day with Ray Douglas, a local author/poet who has been in school to inspire the children. They listened to some of his poems and had a workshop with Ray so that they could begin to write their own poems. @MrRayDouglas1
Another wonderful ‘Glee Club on tour’ success today at the Villages Unite party in Butterworth Hall. We had fun entertaining our audience and sang beautifully! A huge thanks to the Villages Unite crew for inviting us and to our Glee Club parents for all your support! 🎄
Some of our pupil voice council went down to Milnrow library to deliver presents collected by staff so local children living in poverty have a present to open on Christmas Day. Christmas Toy Appeal @RochdaleCouncil
The Year 5 and 6 Athletics team competed at the Pennine Schools outdoor athletics event. The competition was huge and the children excelled. Many of our children and relay teams got through the first heats and into the finals with many children placing in top 3 within their sport
What an absolutely wonderful day staff, pupils and parents had on Saturday at Milnrow Carnival. We proudly walked through the village showing the whole of Newhey and Milnrow our school spirit. Thank you to everyone who came along to support. @NewheyMilnrow

Rochdale’s Environmental Education officer Nigel Goulding came to speak to year 5 about recycling and the environment this week. The children learnt about recycling and how they can do their part to save or planet.
Today we celebrated Autism Awareness Day. Everyone came to school dressed in blue, we had a whole school assembly with a guest speaker talking about his Autism and we made our own tactile infinity signs. ♾ @Autism@AutismAware_UK
During Neurodiversity Week we learnt that everyone has different strengths and talked about how we could help others by teaching each other new skills. We also learnt about famous people who have neurodiversities and how their strengths have led them to achieve amazing things.
On Wednesday, staff at school took part in some CPD training with Michelle from @OrienteeringCo We learnt how to use our new markers that we have had installed around school to develop our children's orienteering skills. We had great fun!
Springy from @SpringhillHosp came to visit school today. He thanked us for our support and presented our cheque of £1143. Fantastic support for our local charity.
Parents and carers joined the year 3 children to enjoy some learning together. Children showed off their learning about the rainforest, they looked at different animal teeth and they took part in mindful activities from My Happy Mind. Thank you to everyone who attended.
World Book Day! Both children and staff got involved by coming to school dressed as a word. Classes then created stories using those words and they will be sharing them with Mrs Sykes when they are finished. @WorldBookDayUK
