Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia had been hit by more than 30,000 sanctions, twice as many as those imposed on all other countries combined, as he accused states of turning economic competition into coercive geopolitical pressure.
“More than 30,000 sanctions have been slapped on Russia which is twice as much as the number of all sanctions against all other countries of the world combined,” Putin said at the Leaders’ Session of the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi.
Putin said the pressure on Russia was part of a broader pattern in which competition was increasingly taking “some ugly forms”, including at the state level. @NewIndianXpress

Speaking at opening ceremony of BRICS Business Forum 2026, Goyal said, "We bring strong capabilities across many sectors, including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, engineering, electronics, automobiles and auto components, services, and should also link our start-up ecosystem. At Leaders' Session of BRICS Business Forum, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says, "One of the most important steps is to expand the use of national currencies in trade among the members. This step must be accompanied by the establishment of the necessary instruments for managing currency risks and reciprocal settlements. Since the current financial system is vulnerable to political shocks due to its concentration on a limited number of currencies, in order to transform trade cooperation into real investment, the New Development Bank must become the principal engine for financing infrastructure and energy in member countries through dedicated credit lines, financing in local currencies and guarantee instruments for attracting prive capital."
