Earlier today, @NewsAssistAI in partnership with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), had an online training with some women journalists in Nigeria on how to use and understand NewsAssist AI’s safety and security infrastructure for investigative and news reporting.

As the founder and developer of NewsAssist AI, I led the training and was excited about some of the feedback I received from people who have used NewsAssist AI (https://t.co/1Ivb6yp8e7 ).

One important aspect I loved was that participants were able to share their experiences with other AI platforms they’ve used. They asked relevant questions about NewsAssist AI and suggested important areas to enhance our platform, and I ensured I answered all the questions regarding the powers of NewsAssist AI, including our pricing.

My favourite moment was hearing some participants say this was their first time hearing about NewsAssist AI and they were excited to explore it, especially those who have experienced the stress of manually transcribing several audio files just to produce a story under pressure. Some were asking for more training on AI technology. Certainly, it is the mission of @JournoTECHworld to take AI technology to the grassroots, and I am glad that we are doing it this time with women journalists in Nigeria.

Very importantly, I emphasised the need to always keep human in the loop, even when it feels like AI can do the job faster or better, whether it is our platform or any other AI platform.

As always, I made sure to talk about both the advantages and disadvantages of using AI, from conversational and non-conversational AI systems, including cybersecurity risks in the event of a data breach, the potential health implications on the brain (especially when over-relying on conversational AI), and how our brains are naturally wired.

I also shared practical use cases, including how big media organisations like the BBC have publicly announced plans to integrate AI into their production workflows, but with a human in the loop.

This training has already made my weekend end well. 😄
